Scope: Upgrade VMware HCX to version 4.11.3 across ~52 servers
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced VMware HCX Engineer to lead and support the upgrade of VMware HCX to version 4.11.3 across a large server environment (~52 servers). This is a critical infrastructure modernization initiative requiring strong hands-on VMware expertise, migration experience, and deep understanding of hybrid cloud connectivity and mobility solutions.

The role is fully remote and focused on planning, executing, validating, and stabilizing the HCX upgrade in a production enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and execute VMware HCX upgrade to version 4.11.3.
Assess current HCX architecture, dependencies, and compatibility.
Perform pre-upgrade readiness assessments and risk analysis.
Develop detailed upgrade and rollback plans.
Coordinate upgrade activities across ~52 servers.
Validate connectivity, replication, mobility services, and network extensions post-upgrade.
Troubleshoot upgrade-related issues and performance impacts.
Ensure minimal disruption to production workloads.
Document architecture, upgrade steps, configurations, and operational procedures.
Collaborate with infrastructure, network, security, and cloud teams.
Provide post-upgrade support and stabilization.

Required Skills & Experience
Strong hands-on experience with VMware HCX (upgrade & implementation).
Experience with HCX migrations, network extension, replication, and mobility services.
Deep knowledge of VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi.
Experience with hybrid cloud environments.
Strong understanding of networking concepts (VPN, L2 extension, routing, firewall).
Experience managing large-scale infrastructure environments.
Proven experience handling production upgrades and migrations.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with NSX, vSAN, and VMware cloud platforms.
VMware certifications (VCP, VCAP, HCX specialization) preferred.
Experience in enterprise data center migrations.
