Job Description:
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled ServiceNow Developer with proven experience in migrating data and processes from legacy IT tools (such as Jira, Remedy, Cherwell, HP Service Manager, or BMC Remedy) to the ServiceNow platform. You will play a critical role in our digital transformation efforts, ensuring a seamless transition of historical data, active tickets, and configured workflows while leveraging ServiceNow best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Development & Configuration
· Design, develop, and implement solutions on the ServiceNow platform, focusing on ITSM, ITOM, or HRSD modules as required.
· Customize ServiceNow applications and services utilizing the Now Platform capabilities (Business Rules, Client Scripts, UI Policies, Flow Designer, and Integration Hub).
· Create and maintain complex workflows, Flow Designer flows, and UI/UX configurations to meet business requirements.
Migration & Data Management
· Lead the technical execution of data migration projects from legacy tools (e.g., Jira, CA Service Desk, Remedy) to ServiceNow.
· Develop and execute data migration scripts using Transform Maps, Import Sets, and Update Sets to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
· Map legacy data structures (CI's, Users, Tickets, Tasks) to the ServiceNow Common Service Data Model (CSDM).
· Perform data cleansing, transformation, and validation pre- and post-migration.
· Identify and migrate active workflows and automation logic from legacy systems to ServiceNow workflows.
Integration & Scripting
· Develop integrations between ServiceNow and third-party systems using REST, SOAP, MID Servers, and IntegrationHub.
· Write and debug GlideRecord, JavaScript, and business rules to support migration and automation efforts.
Best Practices & Documentation
· Ensure migrated data aligns with organizational governance and compliance standards.
· Document technical designs, migration plans, and configuration changes.
· Collaborate with process owners to ensure that legacy processes are improved, not just replicated, in the new environment.
Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience
Experience: 5+ years of hands-on development experience in the ServiceNow ecosystem.
Migration Expertise:
Proven track record of successfully migrating data and workloads from at least one legacy tool (e.g., Jira, Remedy, Cherwell, HP SM, or homegrown ticketing systems) to ServiceNow.
Technical Proficiency:
· Strong proficiency in JavaScript, GlideRecord, and ServiceNow scripting.
· Deep understanding of Import Sets and Transform Maps for complex data migrations.
· Experience with Update Sets and source control integration (GitHub) for moving configurations.
· Familiarity with ServiceNow IntegrationHub and REST/SOAP APIs.
· Platform Knowledge: Solid understanding of ITSM processes (Incident, Problem, Change, Request) and the ServiceNow data model.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
· ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD) or Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) certification.
· Experience with Automated Test Framework (ATF) to validate migration accuracy.
· Knowledge of the Common Service Data Model (CSDM) 3.0 or 4.0.
· Experience with Performance Analytics for reporting on migrated data.
