Role Overview:
This is a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) role where you will design, build, and improve automated testing frameworks that ensure high‑quality, high‑performing software. You will work closely with developers, product owners, and QA teams to create automation solutions, test APIs, validate integrations, and support continuous delivery. This role requires strong Java‑based automation experience, API testing skills, and the ability to build scalable testing frameworks.
Required Skills (Easy to Understand)
· Strong Java programming skills (3–5 years).
· Hands‑on experience with Cucumber, JBehave, or other BDD frameworks.
· Deep experience designing test automation frameworks (8+ years).
· Strong API/Web Services testing experience (REST APIs).
· Ability to write SQL queries and work with relational databases.
· JMeter performance testing experience (3+ years).
· Experience testing full‑stack systems, third‑party integrations, and end‑to‑end workflows.
· Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Git, and DevOps pipelines.
· Nice to have: Python, AWS cloud, TDD, Apigee, microservices testing, load & performance testing, strong documentation skills.
· Soft skills: Excellent communication, ability to collaborate, adapt quickly, and solve problems effectively.
Key Responsibilities
· Build and enhance automated test frameworks using Java/JavaScript.
· Develop automated test cases using tools like Java, Cucumber, Karate, and JMeter.
· Create API automation frameworks for REST API testing and integrate them into CI/CD pipelines.
· Review business requirements, understand acceptance criteria, and create detailed test plans and strategies.
· Perform manual and exploratory testing when needed to ensure overall product quality.
· Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other QA/test engineers.
· Collaborate in Agile/SCRUM teams, attend project meetings, and coordinate with product owners on issues, enhancements, and new features.
· Support installation, testing, and validation of new software releases and improvements.
· Help define testing standards, best practices, and quality guidelines.
· Work onsite in the Chicago office (hybrid model) and collaborate with a 20+ member team.
