Hi Nancy,
We tried the biomedical approach initially and it did help lots but when our son started at school, the principal would not condone him having seizures. He wanted Alex on the epileptic drugs. In the end we agreed to try as everytime Alex hadeizure at school I had to go and pick him up and bring him home. Since it was 55 mins to drive to the school as I was also working, it made life very difficult. But it was the worse decision we made. He reacted to all the drugs that were tried on him - with Keppra his blood pressure went so dangerously low. The epilim caused a lot of walking problems and he lost his ability to climb stairs and cognition.
I am using some oils but am not too sure I am using the right approach so am trying to learn more about it all.
We are seeing a naturopath also as well as a homeopath who is in
Sunbury Melb. This was the same homeopath we saw 9 years ago. Since then we have learnt a lot. I have to admit we were quite ignorant in those early years. You can use homeopathy to detox from the epileptic drugs. but you need to make sure it is a good homeopath.
Alex has become addicted to the Frisium so the homeopath is helping to overcome the addiction. It is ridiculous - you use the frisium if he has too many fits and then if it happens too often, he then needs a hit" otherwise he will have a fit. Vicious circle.
We are using vit B15, vinpocetine, TMG, DMG, glycine, green tea extract as part of trying to control the seizures.
We started homeopathy 3 days ago again and using melatonin homeopathic drops at night as well. Children can also get side effects from anaesthetics and nitrous oxide and residues left in the body from the drugs. So we are going to work on all that as well.
I would really appreciate to be able to share with your information as it seems us parents on the whole have a lot of knowledge between us.
kind regards
Denise
