Hi, just wondering if anybody fancies meeting up this month? There was talk at the last meeting of Wareham - but Weymouth or Poole would also be good.

I'm new to the group and would be very interested in meeting this
month. I'm on the Bournemouth/Christchurch side of things but am happy
to meet wherever. As a bit of background, I work for Amazon Web
Services and recently relocated back the the Bournemouth area and will
be looking to open up UK positions for AWS. I'm very interested in
contributing to the local dev community and after some initial
searching this group came back :)

How about Wednesday 20th or 27th? Wareham sounds like a good plan...

I'm new to the group and I live in Bournemouth. I can only meet where
there is adequate public transport from where I live as I have no car (I
moved down here from London and I want to carry on with a green
lifestyle - though it is more difficult down here!). Anyway, my own
background is Android apps.

Hi Natalie, we tend to meet nearish a Weymouth to London train
station, which hasn't always gone down well with folk who don't live
near the line!

Wareham is on the line from Bournemouth so should be fine for you hopefully.

Hi Stephen,
Wareham indeed has got an hourly train from/to Bournemouth in the
evening, which would be OK. However, it depends where the meetup would
be in Wareham as I seem to recall the actual station isn't in Wareham
proper? Only been there once though so I might be mistaken, apologies if
I am (the region is all new to me)...

Yep you're right, the station is a bit of a walk from the centre.
Cycling from these station can be good or usually some people drive so
could drop you at the station if necessary. We've met at the
Wellington before as it has a range of real ales on tap :-)!

[snip]

Yup - it's a 10-15m walk from the station to the Duke of Wellington - which as Stephen says is a darn fine pub beer wise.

The route is simple.

1) Out the station and turn right to head into Wareham.
2) Carry straight on until you get to the crossroads at the centre of town.
3) Turn left onto East St. Wellington is straight ahead of you on the left.

Piccy of pub at http://officialpubguide.com/pubdetails.php?pubid=2498

Either the 20th or the 27th is fine with me :-)

Either date works for me too. The prospect of a great beer pretty near
guarantee's my attendance and, although I'm on the very eastern edge
of Dorset, I've never been to Wareham so am happy to come along if
it's close to a train station.

Either date is good for me as well - does somebody want to pick one?

Perfect, 20th it is then.

Shall we say from 7.30pm (ish) at the Duke of Wellington?

I was thinking of emailing the UK WordPress/WordCamp mailing list to see if anybody locally wants to come along.

I probably won't be able to make it until a bit later in the evening -
can't really leave Dorchester until about 7/7.30 anyway... still, see
you there!

Oh - and yeah about the other mailing list, the more the merrier :-)

Hi all,
I am new to this group and I live in Bournemouth..
I really would like to come to the meeting but Wareham really isn't
convenient as I work in Southampton and I commute every day by car; it
would be really difficult for me to come there on time.
Isn't there any possibility to have a meeting in Bournemouth or
Christchurch (or even Poole)???
Well.. it seems most of us live in this area!!!

Hi Antonio,

Welcome to the group, we try to meet in different places every couple
of months, so yes we can meet up in Poole or Bournemouth next time.

Regards, David

Also Antonio, it's a very informal group - so being on time isn't
vital (or even likely with some of us!). So, if you feel like coming
along after your day in Southampton, please do.

I'll hopefully catch you all at the next one, there's a big business
networking event that night I need to go to.

Going to add this to bomotechblog.co.uk (which I am working on today,
so don't look yet the theme I used needs tweaking!!)

Antonio, if you want meetups in Bournemouth/poole have you seen
meetdraw.com? Meets 1/4ly

Stephen, I think i saw you the other day on the train but I was close
to exhaustion tired so I wasn't sure!
