When English content is edited, notify other languages of the change

I'm looking for a solution that is either manual or automatic that when there are English content changes, we inform the editors to make the equivalent change in Spanish. Has anyone implemented this in a workflow that they can share their experience or advice? I've researched the Workflow API, but I'm unable to find the "assign to" option so that the Spanish content appears on that user's task screen. Any help is appreciated.
