Currently experimenting with a free trial Enterprise Prime edition of
dotCMS (1.9.3) and am wondering if there is a way to modify the
branding in dotCMS? Things like the background image on the login
screen, the dotCMS logo in the upper left of the UI, dotCMS logo on
workflow emails, etc...

Anyone have experience with this? Thanks

Did you ever get a response for this?  I want to know how to rebrand the login screen and if it can be done on a site to site basis.

Nathan,

In dotCMS 2.0 you can modify the background image and colors on the login screen.
You can watch this video
http://www.dotcms.com/videos/portal-background-personalization

In the CMS Admin --> Company page you can also modify other portal properties.

I just found that video and was about to post here.  I did mange to hose the company page.  I cleared out the bgcolor text field and saved the page.  Now I can't get page to that page load again.

1) how can I correct the data so the page will load?

2) can you make that text field disabled so that other wont have the same issue?

What error are you getting when you load the page?

I couldn't reproduce this on the demo site.

What version are you using?

Try this url with your host

When I first uploaded the back ground that seemed to work.  Then I tried to change the icon which did not work.  And that is when I got into a bad place.  It might have to do with the icon image.

Looks like it was a browser issue.  I restart chrome and all is good.  Man I hate browsers :)

If you have multiple hosts where should you store the background image? The shared host/folder?

Good! I was going to ask if it was a server cache issue, but browser cache is even easier.

I would store it in the shared host.

So I am still having a few issues with the company background and logo.

First off there does seem to be an issue with Chrome when you clear out both the bgcolor and the bgimage fields and click save.  The company page will no longer load.  The page does however still load in firefox.

Second, I uploaded an image in the shared host.  "/images/background.png" I then use it to set the bg image on the company page.  This appears to work as I can see the top menu bar change.  But as soon as I logout then I dont see it anymore.  Not sure what I am doing wrong.

Last, I have uploaded a new logo but I don't see anywhere it is used.  I was hoping that the icon in the upper left would change.  Where is the logo used.

Nathan

Check the permission on the image. It needs to be cms anonymous. You need to be able to view the image without being logged in.

The image is located in the shared host and has the view permission.  When I first upload it, it can be accessed by localhost:8080/images/background.png.  But after I try to assign it to the company back ground I not get the 404 page when I try and access it.  Like I said when I first assign it to the company background I see the top menu bar background change.  But as soon as I log out and come back to the login page the image is gone.

Make sure the image is url addressable out side of the portal - http://sharedhost:8080/images/background.png.  Then use the full url in the company portal for the image, just like you would for any image on the internet.  For example, we use:

My guess is that there is no way to address the image on the "shared_host".  You could also try moving the image to the default host.
