Expiration Date

Does anyone know how to dynamically change the default expiration date?  We have started to integrate code from the code share that respects the expiration date for news stories.  The issue however is some of our end-users do not set the expiration and by default the expiration date is equal to the publication date therefore the news item is not displayed.

You could probably get what you wanted with an additional custom field.   Use some dojo hackery to watch the publish date for changes and then change the expire date appropriately.  It would not be trivial and would require some dojo knowledge though.
