Is it possible for a Content Editor to preview URL Mapped content?

If so, how?

If not, are there any workaround/solutions to assist with this?

Thank you,
Ryan

Ryan:

There are a couple of ways -
  • First there is the new "Pages" portlet that shows all pages+urlmaps and give you one click access to preview/edit mode.  You can see this on the demo site.

  • Second, when editing a content that has a url map, the editor will see a "preview" button that will take them to edit mode:

  • And finally but maybe least helpful, a user should be able to go to any page in edit mode and browse the site for it.

Hi Will,

Sounds good, I like the idea of the "Preview" option from the content-let edit screen... however, I don't see that in dotCMS v23.1.5, which version does that get introduced in?

Many thanks,
Ryan

Hey Ryan,

Yep, that's the one!

Thanks for the question; this alerted me that I'd forgotten to add a bullet to Adding and Editing Content. Updated some screenshots while I was at it, too. (It's fresh enough that it may require a hard refresh if cached locally.)
