Hello folks,

As you are likely aware, the two-week shutdown of the Ashmont Branch of the Red line (10/14 to 10/29) is starting this weekend.

My friend and long time biking advocate Scott Mullen (known as Mully) is helping by organizing short group rides for the weekday morning commuting hours.  The two routes will go from the Fields Corner Station and Ashmont station to the Talbot commuter rail station where people can catch the fairmount line for a 15-minute train ride to South Station.  The Fairmount line trains will be free of charge during that 16-day period.

The group bike rides will leave about the Fields Corner and Ashmont Station 20 minutes before the scheduled inbound train at the Talbot Ave station.  There will be additional bike racks and increased Blue Bike availability.

The goal is to encourage people who may not be aware of this alternative or comfortable riding on the street by themselves to give it a try.  The initiative even got a small grant where they can pay cycling guides $25 an hour to help with the event. See link to document below. Join if you can, as a rider or as a guide!
