Hi guys,

The most significant feedback that we have received today is people wanting to know *who* the people behind the site are.

To this end, we're going to create a page to introduce the human side to the project.  :-)

Would some of you be able to provide to me text of the form "I'm backing .app because..."  I can use that as a framework for building a community message around what we're doing.

Thanks in advance!

Matt

I am backing .app project since it's important that the .app tlD is community controlled and not hijacked by the big mobile companies. It should be open to all app developers, regardless of size, platform and fame. A community project ensures that the best interests of the developers are best served.

I am backing .app because it ensures that the .app tld is open to all
developers regardless of the platform they develop apps for.
Additionally, a community of developers can best ensure this
independence, which a big company wouldn't because it's out of their
mind that there are other platforms. However, .app is a perfect tld
for developers to promote their apps and with a good search engine
it's a really good place where customers can find apps regardless of
the platform they are searching for.

I'm backing .app because this is a unique opportunity to give the developer community a valuable stake in the most significant area of software development. A highly visible and accessible gTLD that is controlled by the community rather than a single corporation will give both developers and consumers access to an open and fair eco-system across all platforms and devices, whilst paving the way for new and innovative app-related tools and services to emerge.

As well as having something about the people behind the project, might also be worth having a "buzz" page linking to blog posts, twitter messages etc that highlight people who are buying into the concept. Shows a potentially interested person that there are other interested people.

I'm backing .app because..

The .app domain is not just about a domain, it's about our community. We want create something that signifies all the things that are great about the tech industry. Entrepreneurship, creativity, aspiration and the knowledge sharing and collaboration that runs deep within the community. The .app domain gives us the opportunity to define the future of web applications. Domain services can provide so much beyond just registration, it just requires the knowledge and passion to make it happen.

By creating .app domain the tech community can finally have a say in how its run, managed and how we can transform domain services to better serve the needs of a constantly evolving ecosystem. We hope the community shares the idea that for the future of web applications we need something new, something stronger, something shared and learns from the inefficiencies of the past.

We as a community have the knowledge, talent and commitment to build something truly brilliant, that benefits us all.

And if that doesn't sway you, it would be most uber cool to have my.app

Dedicatedly

The .app project

( I had about three beers before writing this, so any over emphasis is only my true beliefs talking, please forgive my lack of restraint  )
