Hello

Is there any programming in the DOT for averaging a value from multiple continuous controller inputs?

-I have five continuous controllers, each outputting values between 0.0 and 1.0
-I want to average all five signals, producing one signal with the same range: 0.0 to 1.0
-Importantly, I want to be able to produce the maximum value of 1.0 no matter whether a single controller value is being used, or all five controllers are being used

This seems like simple math (sum values and divide by total number of signals being used); however, the total number of signals will always be variable

Thank you for any tips you may have
DAndrew

Hi Andrew,

Assuming the controller inputs are synchronous you could do this with Max internal objects [thresh 0] and [mean]:

Thanks.  I'll give this a try.  I think this will help with a 'gesture' idea I've been thiniking about for years: what to do with the keys on the karlax. I've reacently upgraded to Spectrasonic's Omnispher 3 and one of the new features is a likey mapping candidate .   I already run data from ALL keys through DOT leaky integrator to try to measure overall finger activity (moving a lot, moving a little). However, I think this new bit of programming will give me a difrferent result
