Musical ambitions and aspirations are getting new wings. The Trinity College London music exam board launched its Rock and Pop exams at an event here in Mehrauli, Delhi, this week. David Bobby, head of business development, Trinity College London, presented the syllabus and explained the purpose of the exams. The showcase event also included Bobby's demos on the keyboard.
The concept of these exams is to provide a platform for musicians who are self-taught, as well as those already taking lessons in music. Indian rock band Parikrama is endorsing the Rock & Pop exams in the country. The first exam took place in the United Kingdom on May 18. Now, say officials, music aspirants and students across the globe can register and appear for the graded exams for Initial (beginner's level) to Grade 8 (advanced) in guitar, bass, drums, keyboards as well as vocals. The goal of the initiative is to propagate the idea of learning through performance.
