Wiltshire Council Launches New Public Health and Well-Being Grant Scheme

Wiltshire Council has launched a new funding scheme in association with the Wiltshire Community Foundation. The Public Health and Well-Being Grant scheme has been designed to fund a wide range of projects aimed at promoting strong communities and improving physical and mental health.

Grants of up to £4,000 are available to small community-based groups with an annual income of £50,000 or less for projects which encourage and improve wellbeing.

All projects should offer new and innovative ways to achieve at least one of the following objectives:

* Reduce childhood obesity and/or help adults to adopt healthier lifestyles.
* Combat loneliness, isolation and other factors which contribute to poor mental health.
* Support older people to have more active and fulfilling lives.
* Promote the use of community green spaces, assets and infrastructure for exercise and wellbeing.
* Reduce drug and alcohol abuse.

Funding is available for one year only, and groups must be able to demonstrate a clear link to improved mental or physical health outcomes that will result from their project.

The deadline for applications is 19 June 2015.
