Hello
Food for a Change is a local social enterprise working across Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole. We (myself and the trusty volunteers who joined after attending sessions) deliver cookery courses to help people build confidence, life, social and work skills through the vehicle of cooking and eating healthy, economical and delicious meals as a group. There is availability to deliver sessions and courses coming up.
Over the last 6 years we have worked with various groups such as people with mental and physical health issues, learning difficulties, substance misuse and other disadvantaged groups – in short, any people in general who could benefit from learning how to eat healthily and how that and working with others can improve wellbeing. In addition to cookery, I lead at 3 community gardens in Poole, run some gardening projects and deliver various personal development sessions.
We have worked with all age groups (mainly adults but also sessions with families and young people) and hired in by organisations such as BCHA, Addaction, Chestnut Nursery, Livability Holton Lee, DHUFT, Poole Foodbank, Poole Housing Partnership and many more. The feedback collected from each participant and then collated is outstanding and shows genuine impact on individual’s lives – both in terms of cooking and eating more healthily and cheaply but also for socialising, confidence, teamwork and so on. Feedback summaries/reports and references from hiring organisations are available
