Softwareupdates are a vital part of keeping your PC running its best. It's important to periodically check for updates since they are released at different intervals. To make things easier, your Samsung PC allows you to quickly check and apply updates. You can even customize the update options, so they'll only happen at times that are convenient for you.
The Samsung Update app allows you to download and install recommended apps and drivers for your Samsung PC. It is usually preinstalled on Samsung PCs, but you can download it from the Microsoft Store if you don't see it.
In most cases, your model will automatically be detected and the list of apps and drivers will indicate what is or is not up to date. Otherwise, enter your PC's model number in the Search bar, and then choose the appropriate software version, such as Windows 11 or Windows 10 v20H2.
Pause updates: Prevent any updates from automatically installing. On Windows 11, you'll have several time frames to choose from. On Windows 10, the default time frame is 7 days, and you can change the amount by going to Advanced options.
Updating the drivers for your Samsung PC can be done through either Samsung Update or Windows Update. However, getting drivers for any external devices you connect to your PC is also important. Windows Update may offer these drivers as well, but may mark them as optional.
If the external device or component you are connecting happens to also be made by Samsung, such as a monitor, you may find drivers for it from our Download Center. If drivers are not available from the Download Center, then available drivers from Samsung Update and Windows Update can be used, or the drivers built-in to Windows may be sufficient.
Devices or components made by manufacturers other than Samsung may offer drivers directly from their site. See Microsoft's help article for how to install and update drivers for additional information.
It is also possible to install desktop apps that are not found in the Microsoft Store. These apps are maintained by their developers. If you'd like to install or update these apps, you can contact their developer for more information.
Even after downloading and installing the universal printing drivers by Samsung as suggested by user 'jbaker19' in this post , BigSur doesn't recognize the printer when connected via USB cable and turned on.
The Samsung Universal Print Driver V3.93.01 for SL-M2020 and some other models ( _Common_SW/Samsung_Mac_Driver_V3.93.01.dmg) could perhaps be worth testing (with a network connection). Look upon this as a pure experiment. It may not work at all. Remember, there is always a certain risk involved with any experiment. Software conflicts cannot be ruled out. A hardware problem is unlikely, but it is impossible to guarantee anything. You may have to erase and reinstall everything on the computer. Data may be lost. Do not proceed unless you know what you are doing. In any case, make sure that you have a minimum of three backup copies of important files before you start.
An ML-2160 (without a W suffix) would have a USB port only. If necessary, it may be possible to connect a small external print server to the USB port in order to allow the printer to connect to a network. There are USB print server models for Ethernet or Wi-Fi from a number of manufacturers.
The last printer driver for the Samsung ML-2160 laser was released in 2017 for OS X El Capitan, and would not be compatible with Big Sur. This device is not supported by Apple's built-in AirPrint, It is not supported by GutenPrint either.
This is one of these expendable devices that Samsung chose to stop supporting, even before they sold their printer division to HP, and you have a paperweight unless it still works with Windows or Linux. Apple certainly is not responsible for its driver support.
Should you decide that you need a new printer, look for one that is supported on Apple's AirPrint listing above, or is explicitly stated to support AirPrint by its manufacturer, or has driver support for Big Sur that was released after Nov 2020.
I had the same issue with my ML-2850 series. I was able to copy the Samsung drivers folder into /Library/Printers and the individual PPDs into into /Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources from my 2019 Mac Pro. The only issue I needed to perform was remove the quarantine extended attribute flag on all files after the copy using "sudo xattr -r -d com.apple.quarantine [folder/files]" where folder/files is the Samsung folder in /Library/Printers and files are the PPDs in /Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources. After which I was able to add the printer using its Ethernet address on the "Printers & Scanners / Add Printer / IP (middle icon) / HP Jetdirect - Socket" using the printers IP as the Address. If you have a Mac with the installed drivers you might give this method a shot.
Yes, that is a good idea. Unfortunately, these devices are expensive, often too expensive. Could be of interest in a case like this if found second hand through an online auction site. Furthermore, one cannot completely rule out the possibility that each such AirPrint print server has a list of supported printers... (other printers may or may not be compatible).
I took the PC to the office, connected it to my AOC monitor via Display Port, and all was good, finished configuring Win10 etc. Tried connecting the PC to the monitor via HDMI as well, all was good! Took the PC back to living room. Again, just got the initial DELL screen, black screen afterwards. I brought the office AOC monitor to my living room, connected it to the DP and the TV to the HDMI port of the DELL, turned it on and it worked, I had signal on both screens. The resolution on the TV was automatically adjusted to the recommended 3840x2160 with a 29,970 Hz refresh rate and RGB color format.
Had some free time today and tried this, didn't work... My guess is Bios starts on one resolution (that is displayed on the Samsung, as I see the Dell logo) and then there is an HDMI handshake issue or a Windows monitor recognition issue, and it doesn't boot on the Samsung... When the AOC monitor is connected as well, even when I have selected to display only on the Samsung on Windows settings, I get the Dell boot screen on the AOC and then I get the Windows login screen on the Samsung...

When you have signal on both AOC and Samsung, what if you unplug AOC DP cable or turn off AOC power while pc is powered on?
It seems strange pc would only show video on hdmi port when there is a monitor connected to DP port.
@Jezuz , I tried similar set up before and I found out many Samsung 4k TV are very picky at the input from PC. They only take 1080p or 2160p, anything in between will just a wallpaper screen with message to check input device. Try this to see if it will work for you: Unplug all the monitor (tv) cables, boot your pc on and look at the activity light to see if it complete booting, probably around 2 minutes. While the Samsung is off, plug in the HDMI cable, turn on the TV. If the signal is received and display, go to Intel Command Center and verify the settings, make change if needed. Run windows update to allow any additional update to drivers. Restart your pc and hope the display will stick and turn on.
No luck, Samsung seems to sense there is an input but doesn't seem to want to display it, and the DELL probably won't finish booting without the TV. I guess there is a weird HDMI handshake going on that doesn't complete on both sides.
If I go to the input menu and choose the HDMI 3 input again,I get a message on the top right of the screen for a few seconds that says "1920x1080 / 60p". The PC, when it boots, recognises the Samsung as a 30Hz monitor (actually something like 29,98Hz), maybe the fault is there?
The HDMI port will display video when connected to the monitor. And will also display video if I disconnect the monitor, the DELL just won't boot when only connected to the Samsung TV, once it boots it can display normally all resolutions on the TV.
By reducing the resolution, it changes the demand for the onboard graphics on the device and might make it more compatible. Instead of 4k or 1080p, try 720p if it's available. If your device is connecting to another monitor just fine, it' is most likely the requirement of the Samsung device for a higher resolution that your PC can't handle.
It was also suggested that you update drivers to your device. If you connect to a smaller monitor and power it on, download Dell Command Update and update your drivers or you can go to Dell.com and find the specific drivers for your device. Specifically update all your video drivers.
Re: @Jezuz , have you try to connect using displayport from your PC? If you haven't, give it a shot. Don't use adapter, try a complete cable like this one -Gold-Plated-Connectors-Display-Compatible/dp/B081GGNWCX/ref=sr_1_...
