Ihave been having trouble with the Origin Client and I seriously do NOT want to deal with it at the moment. I have just bought Sims 4 and would like to play it, ASAP. So, is there a way to install the Sims 4 without logging into origin? It doesn't look it, but I'd figure I'd ask anyway. I just honestly hate the client. I don't need it.
You need to use Origin for the initial install. What issues are you having, perhaps we can help?
Once the game is installed and launched once, you can set Origin to offline and launch the game without using it. It's worth checking back occasionally for updates/patches though.
It's a problem many people are having. It says something like, 'you must be online for the first time logging in'(or something like that, I don't remember) or when I open the client it says it's offline. I've seen how to fix it, I turned off my proxy server and it didn't work.
I'm having the same problem, it keeps saying i'm offline and won't allow me to install the game. i bought the disc hard copy from target, so why do i even need to be online to install anways? that aside, i am online, but it keeps giving me that message and i've been trying for 2 days and it's quite frustrating.
I, like you, was incredibly frustrated with getting Origin to work. I attempted to turn off proxy- I don't use one anyway. Then I turned off firewall and antivirus, as I thought that could be interfering. No dice, origin still wouldn't let me online. Finally I talked to a nice chappie called Ryan at EA support (the first of six people that were actually helpful btw!). He got me to follow these directions:
The next thing that you need to do after running the ccleaner is to disable User account control. User Account Control (UAC) requires the user to manually approve program and game executable launches. This can interfere with any game functions that are triggered on start up, such as connecting to servers or attempting to verify installed DLC.
Here's how:
1. Navigate to the desktop.
2. Hold down the Windows key and press R. (This will open the Run dialogue.)
3. Type msconfig and press Enter.
4. In System Configuration, select the Tools tab.
5. Select Change UAC Settings and click the Launch button.
6. Pull the level to the down position Never Notify and click the OK button.
Next is to disable firewall, then try opening Origin again.
The game I registered and installed and played yesterday isn't in my list of games on Origin anymore. Whenever I try to open the game from the disc it wants me to activate it again, although I already did. It's installed on my computer, but I can't open it. It's driving me CRAZY!!!
Origin is starting to tick me off one minute I am online then I am ofline I was able to download the sims4 then it said I need to update and I can't update because I am offline. At first I had to delete all my Sims 3 games and then origin, then it automatically downloaded again when I installed the Sims 4 and mow I can't even play the game because the stupid thing is saying I offline and can't access the full range of origin, what the hell is going on. I am extremely angry and frustrated
Currently, I have purchased all of my Sims 3 expansions on a disc. However, due to moving several times, I have lost some of the games in the unpacked stuff in the garage. Through the magic of game key retrieval on my old computer, I have registered the missing expansions on my Origin account but there is one left - University Life. It is 10 cheaper on Steam than origin, so I naturally want to buy it at the cheaper price point.
However, I don't own the sims 3 on steam and don't want to negate the cheaper price by having to purchase the base game. If I purchase the DLC as a gift for a friend (my partner) can I simply get the game key off of them and register it myself on Origin? Or can I register my base sims 3 on steam to enable myself to register it on origin?
I have bought several Sims games and expansions recently on Origin, Disks, and Steam. At this point I've purchased about 10 Steam versions of the Sims games and expansions (since I'm buying for 2 players), and FYI: all Steam Sims games and expansions/Stuff packs come with their own CD Key which can be used to register the steam-purchased copies on Origin, and allow you to download the Origin version as well. Thus the key is not "only redeemable" on steam.
Patrick Buechner, General Manager of the Maxis Emeryville studio, revealed back in January that the Offline Mode would arrive in the next major update, aka Update 10. He said that with this patch, gamers can still play solo in Regions on their own, or in multiplayer with people from around the world. What's new is a Single-Player Mode allowing gamers to play the game Offline by themselves.
"Bringing the game Offline means big things for our wonderful community of Modders," he wrote. "They can now make modifications to the game and its components without compromising the integrity of the Online game. Modding is a big part of our studio's legacy and we're excited to see what you guys create."
To get the game to function Offline, the team had to rewrite the entire system -- which was written in Java -- in C++. The team also "knocked out the Internet pipe stuff," meaning there is lots of code that hits the servers looking for information, and a lot of code was written to produce that information locally.
"Our game routes pieces of data from one city to another as data flows through the regions," said Simon Fox, lead engineer on the Single Player Mode for SimCity. "All of that code exists on the server, and now we've brought all of that down into the client. The client processes the region box, which is what all of the cities pushes their data into. We've brought that down into the client as well."
According to an FAQ, gamers still need an Origin account to download and launch SimCity. Once Update 10 is installed, players can put Origin into Offline Mode when playing Single-Player Mode. To put Origin in Offline mode, log in to the Origin client and select: Origin>Go Offline. If the gamer doesn't have an Internet connection, he/she can put Origin in the Offline Mode and play SimCity Offline in the Single-Player Mode.
"Single-Player Mode allows for a multi-city Single-Player experience without requiring an Internet connection," reads the FAQ. "All region maps are available in Single-Player Mode. Since Single-Player Mode does not require a persistent Internet connection, Leaderboards, Citylog, Achievements, Friends List, Player Profile, the Region Wall, and region invites are not available in Single-Player Mode. The Global Market will be available in Single-Player Mode, but prices will be fixed."
Q: How do I download the Single-Player Mode for SimCity?
A: The Single-Player Mode will be included as part of Update 10 at no additional cost. This will be available to all current and future players on PC and Mac starting March 18, 2014.
Q: Will I still require an Internet connection to play?
A: An Internet connection is required to download Update 10 when it becomes available on March 18, 2014. You will not require an active Internet connection to play SimCity Offline in the Single-Player Mode.
Q: Will my previous Downloadable Content (DLC) be playable in the Single-Player Mode?
A: Yes. All of your previous DLC is available for use in both the Single-Player Mode and Multiplayer Mode.
Q: If I uninstall or change machines, can I transfer my Single-Player Mode regions to the new install or Machine? A:
If you uninstall SimCity, your saved games will still be available. However, if you change machines, you will need to manually move your game files to the games file location on your new machine.
Q: How many regions can I have? A:
There is no limit to the number of saved regions a player can have in Single-Player Mode. The file size of your regions will vary depending on density and population of your cities.
Q: How do saves work in Single-Player Mode? A:
Autosave is on by default and saves your region every ten minutes. Your region is also automatically saved if you quit your region or switch to another city in the region. To disable Autosave, go to the Options menu > Settings > Gameplay tab and uncheck "Enable Autosave in Single-Player Mode." Disabling Autosave will allow you to save at points you want to save at. If Autosave is disabled, you will be asked if you would like to save your region when you quit or switch to another city in the region.
Q: How do I rollback my regions? How do I make a copy of my region? A:
If Autosave is disabled, you can save your region at a certain point and then experiment with your region. If you wish to go back to a previous save point, you can choose not to save your region when exiting the game. If you load that region from the main menu or resume page, it will load from the last saved point.
If you would like to make a copy of your region, press "Save As..." from the options menu. You will be prompted to name the copy of your region. This gives you the control to come up with a naming convention that works for you for your copied version. Once you submit that name, you will load the copy of the region. The original region will remain at the last saved point. You can access the original or the copy from the Main Menu in the Play tab.
BACKGROUND: the suppression effect with contralateral white noise observed in the brainstem auditory evoked potential can be influenced by the efferent auditory system. AIM: to evaluate the suppression effect with contralateral white noise in the Brainstem Auditory Evoked Potential of individuals with normal hearing. METHODS: 25 individuals, ranging in age from 18 to 30 years, of both genders, were submitted to a clinical history questionnaire, inspection of the external auditory canal, conventional audiometry, speech audiometry and acoustic immittance measurements. Only individuals with normal hearing thresholds were selected. The selected individuals underwent brainstem auditory evoked potential testing with and without contralateral white noise. RESULTS: a significant statistical difference was observed between the situations with and without contralateral white noise, for wave I amplitude and waves III and V latencies. No statistical differences were observed for the interpeak latencies. CONCLUSION: the present study indicated increased latencies and reduced amplitudes of waves I, III and V with contralateral noise, when comparing the situations with and without noise. These results suggest a possible influence of the efferent auditory system on the response modulation of Brainstem auditory evoked potential when contralateral white noise is used.
