Hi folks:

I just went to my eye doctor and they did a scan called an opical
coherence topology scan.

I noticed an intense blue light and an intense red light when they
scanned my eyes.

He told me it had something called a superluminescent diode.

Have any of you heard of such a diode? I am wondering because I
can use anything that can make my lighted jackets brighter without
getting hotter. :)

I think it is a variant of a laser diode. Hence the "coherent" part of the rice sure name.

Actually, SLEDs have to be protected from back-reflections otherwise they accidentally lase and can damage the sled. They are specifically designed to have LOW coherence but very high output like a laser diode. They have a broader bandwidth, although not as wide as a white LED, certainly wider than a laser diode. They are quite expensive from the sources I found... anyone know of a "cheap" SLED?
