[dorkbotpdx-blabber] What would we (could we?) do with $1000?

After getting an email from BrainSilo about it, I jumped over to a twitter account to see this:

@DorkbotPDX Oh how we'd love to see an @awesomepdx grant proposal from the Dorkbot neighborhood. Hope to see you at our 9/20 grant party.

Doing absolutely no research, It looks like they give away $1000 for stuff. 

So, as a group what could we do with $1000? Anything? Something?

I would suggest not doing things "as a group" when that group is DorkbotPDX as a whole. We're somewhere over 300 people now, so… getting consensus and using the money effectively without frustrating someone is likely difficult if not impossible. What I would like to see, and the way that tweet reads to me, is for some person or group of persons from within the DorkbotPDX community assemble some idea(s) to submit. It does not have to be the group as a whole and probably shouldn't be. If you have ideas or others come up with ideas, great, just go ahead and submit them!

Too late for the September deadline, but I think this would be a great fit for the vending machine idea that was floating around a while ago.  Anyone interested in taking that on?
