Hi all,

It looks like I’m going to have to start working with Atmel
Studio, at least initially, to get the next revision of my
board up and running. I hope to transition to avr-gcc and
some other open-source tools eventually, but at the moment
Studio has what I need to continue forward with the SAM4S
microcontroller.

The SAM4S can in theory be flashed over USB, but I think I also want to
debug it, so I probably need a debugger dongle — J-Link
or SAM-ICE seem to be supported by the version of Studio I have.
I found something that will work online, but it’ll take a
month to get here from China, or who knows maybe longer?

I wonder if anybody here has a Studio-compatible and SAM-compatible
debugger dongle they could either lend me for a few weeks
or sell to me used?

Thanks,
-mykle-

p.s. Are Segger dongles a racket? $200+ of dongle just
to upload firmware to a microcontroller seems a ripoff …
i imagine the debugging parts are more complex, but is
this seriously what every embedded developer outside of
Arduino-land needs to purchase? Plus Windows, of course …
