Howdy,
Most Saturdays are bad for me. Friday, Feb 12 is bad, but other
Fridays are good. Any Sunday is good.
Good day,
Ralph
Fridays, Boo!
Saturdays, Variable
Sundays, usually OK
I need help getting my interactive voodoo doll modified from the
Switchcraft book project to work. Still learning how to use my
multimeter. I can show some conductive threads samples I got too...
Also, have an old G3 MAC (hard disk cleaned but with OS), and several
CRT monitors available that I can bring to distribute.

Speaking of which, exhibited we showed off some of our work at PartyFest today... a convention for event planners, caterers, entertainers, etc.

1409 S. Lamar St., 75215
Loft #845
The building is called Southside on Lamar, it's a big red brick building that used to be a Sears warehouse. You can park in the front lot, or the side lot labelled "Retail parking." In those lots you may ignore the 2hr posted limit. You may park at the meters on the street subject to the posted times and limits. There is a police station across the street, so those are enforced! There are "pay the box" lots across the street and to the side of the building. These are owned by the complex so if you need to park there, you can ask at the front desk for a free parking pass for the day.
My cell: 817-915-8185
We will supply drinks, feel free to bring some snacks to share.
Bring projects to show off, and projects you want to work on. We'll start with show & tell on projects, and then have a free form work/chat session. We have a small, well equipped workshop with a variety of tools (Saws must be used by us for liability reasons.) We also have a vinyl sign cutter and a 60watt laser cutter. (If you want to cut something on either of those, please contact me in advance for details on how to make the file. The more prep we can do in advance, the more likely there will be time to run the job once you're here.)

I was utterly amazed.
For all the times I've read on Make or BoingBoing or Hackaday about
having community Maker spaces / tool clubs in 'cool' cities and wished
there was anything like that in Dallas - it was very inspiring to see
the work space these guys have set up. Laser cutter, plastic working
tools, wood shop gear, hardware all impressively organized and labeled
- this was NOT your grandpa's dusty garage shop. These guys are
looking to be as accessible to traditional artists as well as
nerdy-makers so they have all sorts of neat toys and slick projects
theyve already produced all about.
It seems like they have some interesting leads on setting up a larger
location with even more tools and capabilities and have what seems
like a range of promising business plans that would allow people
access to useful tools with either classes or a subscription.
Its a bit under the radar now (given how impressive it already is) but
they are kind of waiting until they have their new location nailed
down before rolling out any PR to the various nerd-blogs and news
outlets. As of right now they consider their setup just a prototype
of a work space but I gotta say I was ready to start working tonight!
so from me A++++, Would attend again and again.
