Hi Boston parts and crafters!
If you're reading this email it's because you're on the Parts and
Crafts Boston announcements mailing list or because I have some other
reason to believe that you might be interested in hearing about the
programs we're running. If you're not interested, I apologize and if
you let me know, I'll make sure that you never get another
announcement again!
We have a lot going on at the moment, thought mostly in the New York
City area. I am excited to make a few announcements of interest to
Boston parents and makers, though!
1. We will be running a week of vacation week camp at the same
location where we ran our summer program. Standard details and
registration information follow.
If you are a hacker/tinkerer/maker/technologist/artist/whatever, and
you would be interested in working with kids on the thing(s) that you
do, please get in contact with us, even, or especially, if you're
never done any teaching in the past or don't have a lot of love for
traditional teaching/learning environments.

Where: Brookline Church of Christ -- 416 Washington Street, Brookline, MA 02446

A week or invention and creation. We’ll have our electronics
workbench, art table, a bunch of hand-tools, building supplies, scrap
materials, air pumps, hot glue, duct tape, etc. Things will be taken
apart and build. They may be attached to wheels and ridden. LEDs will
be added to everything that needs to glow or blink. Everyone will be
asked if they want to learn to solder. There could very well be giant
sculptures made of corrugated cardboard. You never know!
2. We are working on a lightsaber building kit, expanding upon this
instruction set --
http://www.instructables.com/id/Make_your_own_lightsaber/ -- if
anyone is interested in getting a fist version of this, letting your
kids work through it and talking with us about what is good and bad
about the materials and instructions, let me know and we can work
something out!
I think that's it. As always, if you have any questions about
anything we're doing have a look at
www.partsandcrafts.org or send us
an email at
partsan...@gmail.com!
best,
--
