Hello, Friends!
After a very long pause I am back with some news: there will be a
series of six storytimes for children held at the Fish Creek Library,
beginning January 8th (Saturday) at 11 a.m. The virtues employed in
this series are: consideration and courtesy, courage, friendliness,
truthfulness and honesty, forgiveness, love. Thanks to Holly
Somerhalder for setting the series up!
The reason I am posting this here is to ask you for your input. Do
you have a favorite story that may fit in with these themes? I have a
few and am looking for more. There is some method behind the order--
the theme of consideration and courtesy is one to deal with first, as
it also means how we relate to one another in a storytime situation.
The topic of courage falls right before the Dr. Martin Luther King
holiday and the one on love, just before Valentine's Day. I am hoping
that we will have a variety of ages represented in those that show up--
these topics are really for all ages!
There are a lot more virtues, and I have already begun to make a
mental list of stories that fit in with other virtues. I am open to
suggestions! What's more, we are considering making this year's Ayyam-
i-Ha party one that is virtues-themed. We hope to have a good turn-
out for the party, to be held February 26th--also a Saturday! Please
save the date!
Looking forward to your response!
