"Don't Mess with Bill: The Story of Dorothy Fairbairn" needs your
support to continue filming.

Why This Film Is Important:
Today, GLBT issues have moved to the forefront of our political
dialogue. From films and television to newspapers and magazines, the
GLBT community has an ever increasing presence in today's cultural
lexicon.

There is one major issue being ignored in this discussion, lesbian
elders. "Don't Mess with Bill" will explore the life of one lesbian
elder in particular, Dorothy Fairbairn. Capturing an important piece of
our American Experience, we will understand the struggles of the
lesbian community from post World War II to the present.

About the Film:
The gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community has made huge
strides since that June evening in 1969. Much has changed about how
society looks at the GLBT community. "Don't Mess with Bill: The Story
of Dorothy Fairbairn" examines the shifts and changes in the lesbian
community from the 1950's to today.

The film follows the life of Dorothy Fairbairn from her childhood on
Chicago's Southside in the 1930's to life as a lesbian elder in today's
world. Through interviews with Dorothy and her friends, we will learn
what life was like for lesbians in Toronto, Canada in the 1950's. We
will learn about life for the Minneapolis lesbian community in the
1960's and 1970's and how Stonewall affected the lives of the Twin
Cities GLBT Community.

Before "gay marriage". Before stonewall. When "out" was outlawed.
"Don't Mess with Bill: The Story of Dorothy". How much GLBT history do
you know?
