Bill Nisbet has kindly supplied a recording of a radio interview Don
McLean did for an Irish series called Tower Of Song. He was
interviewed by John MacKenna, who is nowadays an award winning
novelist and biographer.

The setting for the interview, which MacKenna points out was Don’s
choice, is Wolfes, a gourmet wine and food establishment in the centre
of Dublin. The rattling of plates can be heard during the interview.

Don talks at length about “Genesis” and why and where he wrote the
song, the song is played then Don tells exactly who “Bronco Bill’s
Lament” is about, fascinating stuff. He goes on to talk about “Castles
In The Air”, “Homeless Brother” and “Winterwood”, all of which are
played and it is a superb radio show.

So again many thanks to Bill for supplying it. The interview last
