On October 1st EMI Records release "The Legendary Don McLean", a 20
track CD and accompanying DVD. The CD includes the new recording "In
the Museum" and the DVD includes the concert recorded in 1980 which
already forms the "Dominion" album (2003), later released as "Greatest
Hits Live". The DVD includes an insightful interview by Paul
Gambaccini. The album cover is noteworthy for being the best since
"American Pie"!
The official website is undergoing some changes, including the gradual
addition of videos of interest to fans. You can now watch George
Michael perform Don McLean's "The Grave" on the Graham Norton show in
2003 at http://www.don-mclean.com/articles/georgemichael.asp. Just as
controversial for some fans is Madonna's "American Pie" video at
http://www.don-mclean.com/articles/madonna.asp. The video of Don
singing "American Pie" with Garth Brooks in front of 1 million fans at
Central Park, NY in 1997 is also available at:
http://www.don-mclean.com/articles/garthbrooks.asp.
Older fans who enjoyed Don McLean concerts featuring some banjo
playing will be pleased to hear that Don has been playing a new Vega
long head and this will accompany him in Britain and Ireland and
subsequent dates in America and the Far East. The story behind this
new custom made banjo can be found at http://www.don-mclean.com/europe2007/?p=40.
Don McLean has been talking about his biography "The Don McLean Story:
Killing Us Softly With His Songs" in an extensive newspaper article
available at http://www.mainecoastnow.com/articles/2007/08/24/webworks/doc46cc8af754492182047136.txt
