Greetings!
Is anyone else surprised we are already in February? Please take a look at the auspicious days occurring this month along with activities at Do Ngak Sung Juk.
If you made resolutions you haven’t been able to keep, you can restart them on Losar, the Tibetan New Year on Friday, February 12. And remember, the 14 days following Losar are the Days of Miracles. Days of Miracles celebrate the time a group of ascetics challenged the Buddha to a contest of miracle powers at Sravasti. Although the Buddha did not want to show his miraculous powers, as this was the only way to subdue these ascetics and help them to develop faith in the Buddhadharma, he performed amazing miracles each day for 15 days, outperforming the ascetics. Consequently, the ascetics and a huge assembly adopted the Buddhist doctrine, practiced it, and gained spiritual attainments.
During this 2-week period, according to the Sutras, all our actions - whether positive or negative - will be magnified by 100 million so it’s a good time to practice mindfulness. Please include in your new year’s resolution to become more involved with Do Ngak Sung Juk’s (DNSJ) and our activities which are outlined below.
