… Only without Jack Harkness’ bottom (as rated by my sister).

Hiya!

This week I’ll be playing…

  • Wed 15th - “Open House” at the Barhouse, Chelmsford.
  • Thu 16th - A sneaky 15 minuter for the “Paulsgig Band Nite” @ Seaxe, Essex Arms, Brentwood
  • Sat 18th - 30-45 min set for the “Diverse Weekender” @ the Fleece, Chelmsford

and now I’m positive that you’d all love to hear about…

Rileys, Terling, Fri 10th July

The IO arsenal - guitars and stuff pre-gig

The IO arsenal - guitars and stuff pre-gig

The other night, it was my very great privilege to support The Gentlemen of Io in Riley’s bar, the village of Terling.  Also playing were; the mighty loopy reggae beat-poet Stu and we had a delightful turn from chartreuse Deborah Anderson.

Stu filled in for John Campling who unfortunately has been laid low - get better soon John.

It was lovely to see old chums Hayley and Paul again - they just happen to live there and I didn’t know (hope Paul managed to stagger home, he was getting pretty slurry :-).  And my ma and pa drove up from Southend to be there, which meant a lot.

I played some cajon drum for Io, I actually learnt a couple of their songs for the occasion!  I shall join their band by attrition.

So for those who care for trivia, here’s my set in a pot…

  • I broke a string and had to run to the car (miles, I tell you, miles!) to get a spare while Anver told (bad) jokes.
  • I dedicated the entire set to my Mum & Dad, so great to have them there!
  • Forgot the first line to “Family Medical Companion” (damndamndamn) and had to go look it up.
  • Made Roy Bartholomew nearly fall off his chair laughing, I shall treasure that image to my deathbed.
  • Didn’t have time for Done & Dusted, so we all sang it in the car park at midnight - lovely quiet village, Terling is…

And here’s some more pics (not of me though, I was the one with the camera!)

Cheers

Daver
