Don,

Now, I don't want this to get to your head.......but you have a gift
when it comes to cleaning and de-cluttering. I've been reading your
books ever since I got them a few days ago. And today I really hated
the "too much".

I still have a ways to go, but today I: threw away 1 garbage can of
stuff, sent to the DI - 1 diaper bag full of toys, another diaper bag
and a small box of stuff. I took 5 small boxes of clutter, and I put
what I can't get rid of yet or want and need to figure put where to put
it into one larger container (some stuff going to the garbage). You
can't see the difference yet, but I can feel the difference. I wish I
could keep cleaning, but it's time for some sleep.

Thank you so much for being my motivation.

Congratulations on joining in on our clutter-free movement! It sounds
like with your newfound distaste for the "too much" in life you will
really begin to see a difference in your life as you start to thin out
your junk. I appreciate the comment about me being your motivation but
actually the contrary is true as well. You, and everyone who struggles
to kick clutter are my motivation! Taking your excess to places like
DI, The Salvation Army, etc. is always a terrific way to bring order to
your home and help those less fortunate. Also, sorting out your mess
into items that may be near and dear to you (that you don't want to
throw out) versus those items that you have no attachment to certainly
aids in your ability to quickly discard those things and immediately
begin to feel that difference you mentioned. Like you said, you may not
yet see the difference, but if you can feel it, then you know its
working. Keep up the terrific effort and keep us posted with your
progress!

Hi, I just shared this with anna, but it occured to me that this group
might be interested in knowing about the national online Freecycle
group. It is run by volunteers (I am one of them, in Storrs,
Connecticut). Basically, you can post messages to offer items, or to
request items. Since we are decluttering, we would be offering items.
The last time I moved, I was able to give away a great deal of
furniture I wouldn't be able to use in my new place, I also gave away
clothes that didn't fit after I lost weight, and hardest of all to part
with was my darkroom set -- but I hadn't used it in three years. I
ended up giving it to a college student who is studying photography,
and he invited me to see his darkroom after he set it up, and work he
had done, so it took away a lot of the pain of letting the equipment
go. You can find a group close to you by going to the www.freecycle.org
site and looking for your state. Not every town or city has a group
because, again, it's all done by volunteers. But you can likely find
one close enough to you or do what I did, and apply to set up your own.
