...Into Don Aslett's latest and perhaps greatest project ever! Many of
you may know that Don has, for many years, had a museum located in the
Varsity Contractors, Inc. (Don's company) corporate office. This museum
is a showcase of more than 100 years of cleaning history, featuring
antiques and tools of the trade dating back to the days of early
cleaners.
Recently, Don aquired quite possibly the worlds finest collection of
cleaning tools (primarily pre-electric vaccums) from Swiss collector
Peter Frei, and with this collection Don is planning the construction
the worlds largest cleaning museum that will feature this priceless
collection in its entirety as well as items don has collected over the
last 20+ years.
To this end a 5-story, 60,000 square foot building has been purchased
in Pocatello, Idaho (Location of Don's corporate offices and current
1,500 square foot museum) and is currently undergoing a huge
rennovation. Once completed Don's museum will be the world's most
widely recognized cleaning museum featuring many one of a kind items
including a replica of the horse-drawn vacuum cleaners used by
professionals in the 1800's, and a "port-a-potty" belonging to
Elisabeth of Bavaria (Royal Princess Elisabeth of Bavaria, Sisi) who
was murdered in 1898 on Lake Geneva in Switzerland, to name a few.
All that to say this, Don's museum is already gathering steam, and
popularity a year before its scheduled completion. On thursday July 6th
the radio program "Speaking on Business" will feature a brief segment
that will spotlight the coming museum. It will be aired at a number of
locations throughout Idaho, visit http://www.aslett.com/radio.html for
a complete list of stations and airtimes, as well as a script of the
program.
