- With Internet Explorer 11, a web site containing Japanese may not be printed properly. In Windows Update, update the OS and Internet Explorer to the latest version.
- If the printer driver is installed in Windows 8, and if Windows 8 is upgraded to Windows 8.1 while keeping the printer driver installed, Enable bidirectional support in the printer properties may be deselected, disabling detection of the ink level, etc. Re-install the printer driver after upgrading to Windows 8.1 and Enable bidirectional support is selected.
- If the scanner driver is installed in Windows 8, and if Windows 8 is upgraded to Windows 8.1 while keeping the scanner driver installed, scanning from the product (by using the SCAN button) may not be available. Re-install the scanner driver after upgrading to Windows 8.1.
- While scanning, the computer goes into the sleep status if OS setting is set to do so. Scanning stops in the Sleep status.
(Preventive action)
To scan the data with high resolution and large capacity, specify the enough time to complete the scanning or disable the setting.
Download / Installation Procedures
1. Click the link, select [ Save ], specify "Save As", then click [ Save ] to download the file.
Memo :
If you select [ Run ] ( or [ Open ] ) instead of [ Save ], the file will be automatically installed after it is saved.
2. The downloaded file will be saved in the specified place in the self-extracting form ( .exe format ).
3. Double-click the downloaded EXE file to decompress it, then installation will start automatically.

Windows 10 drivers and software are not planned for the PIXMA MP190; however, Windows 8.1 drivers should function in the new Windows 10 environment with some limitations which are currently unknown to Canon. Installing these drivers and the MP Navigator program should allow you to scan under Windows 10.
1. Verify that the operating system detected in the "OPERATING SYSTEM" field is Windows 8.1 (or Windows 8.1 x64 if you have a 64-bit operating system), and if it is not, please click the drop-down menu to select that operating system.
2. Below the box labeled DRIVERS, locate the MP DRIVERS file, then click the SELECT button to the right of the filename. When you do, a red DOWNLOAD button will appear; please click on that button to begin the download.
My school's tech team recently updated my MacBook Pro to Big Sur. In the process, I seem to have lost the ability to print from my home computer, Canon MP190. How do I access a software update that will enable me to print from my home printer again?
There have been a few reports about older Canon drivers used with some other models even under Big Sur, but do not expect it to work. If you try it, look upon it as an experiment. If you proceed, make sure that you have (multiple) backup copies of all important files (documents, photos, et cetera). Software conflicts cannot be ruled out when testing drivers. Data may be lost.
Any error messages? Could the article 'You do not have permission to open the application' when using a scanner on Mac - Apple Support possibly be of interest? Canon has some details in =content&id=ART180175 .
I had the same issue with my Canon Pixma MG7120. I deleted the printer, downloaded the latest driver from Canon and re-added the printer. I can print now but my Mac still doesn't recognize the scanner. I'm now doing research on new printer/scanners, but for the first time in more than 20 years I feel a little let down by Apple.
I am trying to get my Canon MP190 to print with Macbook, OS10.5.8. I used to use the printers utility file to check ink levels. Now am told must go to Apple for latest drivers, etc. Where do I go??I am lost.
Once you download your new driver, then you need to install it. To install a driver in Windows, you will need to use a built-in utility called Device Manager. It allows you to see all of the devices recognized by your system, and the drivers associated with them.
In the Device Manager window, locate the device for which you want to install or update the driver. You can find devices under their respective categories, such as Display adapters, Sound, Video and Game Controllers, or Network adapters.
Click on the Browse button and navigate to the location where you saved the downloaded driver files. Select the appropriate driver file and click OK. Then, click Next to begin the installation process.

1. When the monitor resolution is 1024 x 768 or less, as the ''Print'' and ''Cancel '' buttons are displayed behind DOCK, those buttons cannot be clicked.
2. The numbers in Start time / End time in Quiet Mode of Canon IJ Printer Utilities can not be changed when specify them on the keyboard.
3. When attempting to print, the printer does not operate in some instances.
4. An driver-related error message is displayed in English instead of Simplified Chinese even after Simplified Chinese is selected in the OS language setting.
Procedures for the download and installation
1. Click the link. The download will start automatically.
2. Files will be saved on the computer desktop.
3. Double-click the file to mount the Disk Image.
4. Double-click the mounted Disk Image.
5. Double-click the .pkg file in the folder. Installation starts automatically.
For many (but not all) Canon printers and scanners we can download a proprietary Linux driver from Canon Asia. If a driver was not yet listed in the Canon web search tool linked above we may still find links to the appropriate driver downlaods from the Canon product overview page. Download the Debian package archives to install the proprietary printer drivers with the Ubuntu Software Center by a double click on them.
Note that drivers available there support a series of printers but not a subset of of this series. This is usually indicated by the product numbering (e.g. for a Pixma IP 2820 you will download the driver for the IP2800 series, for a PIXMA MX457 you will need the driver for the MX450 series, etc.)
In case we need a driver that fully supports all printer features there is a commercially available printer driver Turboprint which actually works great but you may not want to support their rather weird and expensive licencing plan (starting from $34 for one computer and two printers with free updates for 6 months only).
If that does not work try executing the install.sh-Script if it is included in the driver .tar.gz-file of your driver (can be downloaded from the Canon Website, Section Drivers). Afterwards try adding the printer from the GUI again, that's what I just did and it works perfectly.
Once the printer and scanner drivers are installed, connect your device to the computer and start Printers utility test if it works. And launch the Simple Scan utility and select your scanner from app menu Documents -> Preferences -> Scan Source to test if the scanner works.

If you're using Windows and you've installed a Canon driver, VueScan's built-in drivers won't conflict with this. If you haven't installed a Windows driver for this scanner, VueScan will automatically install a driver.
