Dear friends

i believe this will be the last time I email you all from the UK before I head out, on the 8th, to LA, where I will continue to organize the launch of the 'Dom and Ernie Project' (www.domandernie.com). I finished the last of my book signings last week down in Bristol and have now just finished packing to travel over to Achilles mark II (he/she has yet to get a name!).

With our departure pushed back a week due to an unpredicted necessity for a short burst of chemotherapy for Ernie (to put him in a better position to enjoy the journey after a slight worsening in his condition), we will roll away from Santa Monica pier at 11am on June 26th 2010 - thats a saturday for anyone nearby that wants to be a part of the send-off!

Our chosen route through the  States from west to east can be seen here - if you think you could ride along with us at any point or know of anyone that lives somewhere along this route then please get in touch - the more friendly faces the better.

I really believe that by doing this, Ernie is not only showing a considerable amount of courage, he is also undertaking a challenge that could potentially inspire hundreds of thousands of people. Everybody gets old and an increasing number of people suffer from debilitating illnesses, cancer being among the most prevalent. Ernie is both getting to be pretty 'senior' AND he has cancer, yet he is still going to chase a dream he first had more than forty years ago. Please get behind Ernie and his small but perfectly formed support team by meeting us or if you are able, donating to the charity we have partnered with. For obvious reasons, this is the LIVESTRONG foundation, founded by Lance Armstrong, empowering those affected by cancer worldwide.

The team consists of Ernie (but of course), myself (underpowered engine room), Alonso (my last 'Take A Seat' companion, now driving the support vehicle), and Nadia (publicist / press officer). I have, with the help of WILDERNESS.com (which will be live very shortly and hosting day by day journey updates) and a number of other kind sponsors, been able to amass the necessary equipment to film this adventure in its entirety, and I am confident that, off the back of the success of 'Take A Seat', and with an infinitely more interesting central character, we will months from now have hundreds of hours of truly inspirational footage to cut into a documentary. Are you in the film industry and interested in getting involved? Get in touch! In fact get in touch anyway!!

Thanks to all of you for taking the trouble to follow my continued adventures, we will hopefully see or at least hear from you on the road.

Here's to the road ahead for all of us.

Dominic (on behalf of the Dom and Ernie team!)
