Newbies have a tendency to gloss over many important details when it
comes to their website design. It's easy to pay attention to the
larger issues and the main overall picture of your website or your
online business. It's more difficult however to focus in on all of the
smaller issues, and anchor text is one of those. Learn the importance
of using this type of text in the right way in order to improve the
success of your online business immediately and over the long haul.
Anchor text is the word or the words used within any clickable link.
When a search engine crawls your website and sees all of the links, it
also reads the words that are included within the code for a link. The
words used can have a large impact on how your website and the
individual pages within your site are judged and ranked.
You want to do everything in your power to align yourself with your
market and your niche. You do this in many ways throughout your entire
website design. You do this for example by using keywords in the
content that you create, and by picking a domain name that hopefully
includes keywords or related phrases as well. But including those
keyword phrases within your anchor text is also extremely important.
When a link exists from one website to another, it tells the search
engines first of all that the page exists - if they weren't aware of
it yet. It then helps give information on what that page may be about.
So therefore you want to use anchor text to all of your other pages
using keywords and key phrases that are directly tied to your market.
In this way your pages will quickly and naturally become connected
with the niche you are trying to reach out to, and your pages will
rank well for the search engines.
Anchor text is even more important when it comes to external pages
that link to your site. Within your own site, those internal links are
important for directing information and adding some level of
relevance. External links however also factor into how credible your
site is within the search engines as a whole. External links utilizing
targeted anchor text can therefore make a big difference in how well
you rank and what you rank for.
It's important that you take the time to use the correct anchor text
in your website design. Research the correct keywords and key phrases
related to your niche and your business, and use them in all of your
page's internal links leading to one another. Don't forget to also use
this text navigation when you are creating external links leading to
your site, whether through link exchanges, directories, article
marketing or anything else. If you use anchor text in the right
fashion you can achieve superior search engine results.
