I cloned the site to my server into a subfolder of my document root. Whenever I goto the page I am getting this error message.

I would recommend checking your _includes/config.inc.php file to make sure your file paths are still correct. If the paths are correct, you'll probably need to take a look at your web server logs to see what's going on. Error 500 is a pretty common one and it covers a lot of issues, so it's hard to narrow down the issue without more information.
