I used to have fawn and white runners and have found some elegant white ones...I have alot less space now and was thinking of just taking two girls, no drake for now.  Would they be ok that way?  I have a small flock of bantam hens and these ducks are used to chickens.

In our experience with Runners over the past 6 or so years we have found that the ducks are constantly trying to avoid the drakes. We do have too many drakes, however I think the ducks would be a lot happier without any drakes to ‘bother’ them. ;-) Our present flock was 13, but a sitting duck and 1 of 2 companion drakes disappeared recently. The nest was under a Rhododendron next to our deck and we have dogs roaming at night. We think it must have been a day time raid when we were away and the dogs were in the house.

I am a fairly new member of this group and  happy to see it become more active.

hello, not sure of what you are wanting here, are you wanting to buy ducks from me or you are wanting help with ducks disappearing? If you are living in Winchester, VA I am thinking you are not want to buy from, me, and I am sort of thinking you aren’t really wanting help from me either, or  may be you do. Yes? No? I am sorry to hear that some of your ducks disappeared though, I just hate it when that happens to me and some time it does with my free ranging flock, thankfully not a lot though.

We don’t need anymore ducks. I was replying to the question from Richard Pozar (Glee) about keeping a flock of Runners without a drake. We have a couple of fawn and white, but most are either white or black and white. Most of them were hatched by the ducks, but we raised a few from our incubator.
