In Germany, there is an Informal (DU) and a formal (IHR) way of
expressing.
Which one should we stick to?

Dominik,

I'd say the Formal version is the way to go.
I was wondering the same thing about Russian, but thinking of all the
people that could potentially use the browser, the formal version
should be standard, and maybe informal is a secondary german one?
Depending on how much time you are willing to spend on it.
I'm pretty sure I'll make a second Russian one for people that don't
care for big words and proper grammar. hahaha

informal: "DU"
formal: "SIE" (not "IHR")

if you like to act like a serious company, you better choose formal
(SIE)...
if you like to talk like a friend/in a community, choose informal
(DU)...

i would prefer formal... sounds serious ;-)
