I saw halo was running on some pretty low end machines so I decided to try mine an i5-1135g7 w/ iris xe, figuring the performance would be playable. But I didn't expect the graphics to be so incompatible that everything was black or just kept disappearing when you moved. I'm gonna link a couple of YouTube videos here that show what its doing and to show its not just me and is happening on other systems. My drivers are up to date and all that. not really looking to solve it, but wanted to make sure intel was aware since i didn't find much buzz online about it. Also i know the game doesn't support intel cards but Forza said the same deal worked fine and got performance updates if i remember right. so i thought i would make a post regardless.

So the Intel support engineers can have more information about your system, Please download and run the Intel System Support Utility ( -System-Support-Utility-for-Windows- ) for Windows. Select all data categories and then have it generate a report. Next, have the tool Save the report to a text file (don't try to use the Submit capability; it doesn't work). Finally, using the Drag and drop here or browse files to attach dialog below the edit box for the body of your response post, upload and attach this file to the response post.

Hey, just wanted to comment here, I tried out the beta drivers for iris xe that released nov 15, and it got a bit better, trees and a few animations, as well as some parts of the map are now in full color. but a lot of the map still flickers black

Thank you for posting on the Intel️ communities. We understand you mentioned you are not really looking to solve this but we would like to investigate this issue, there might be some troubleshooting steps or reports that we need from you but if you do not want to complete them you can let us know. We will post the updates on the thread

the game runs fine on a ryzen 3 3200g so i know it will run well on an 11th gen i5 with iris xe. i just hope intel fixes their drives really soon because it'll suck for all the intel users that can't play the game.

From what I've heard its really down to luck with your chip/card. I've seen videos of some top spec rigs getting less than 60 if they go above medium settings, and some mid spec rigs getting better performance than that. If the fps from the glitched version is any indicator, it seems like iris xe will get around 30-40 on low, which is pretty playable I think

Thank you all for the feedback, Intel is aware of these issues with Halo Infinite on Iris Xe Graphics and we are investigating the situation so the game can run properly once it officially launches. Fixes for this will be delivered in future driver releases, you can check our downloads page to make sure you get our latest drivers:

They released new drivers today (dated 12/13/2021) 30.0.101.1191. Infinite still doesn't work. It's actually worse than the last driver release. In the release notes it says it improves playability for Halo: Combat Evolved. Infinite is not mentioned.

After a match you individually lose points if your team lost, and you gain points if your team won. As noted, this can range from 1 to 15 points. However, the overwhelming majority of the time the system allocates points in the middle of that range. There are very few examples where you will gain 12+ or lose 5 or less.

Using a wider range of the point system would create more separation among the player-base, thus better representing their individual skill. It would also be infinitely more rewarding when performing well as you would feel like you actually made some progress after a session. Lastly, it would be less punishing when a player played well but lost and less rewarding when a player played poorly but won (as it should).

Players are frustrated with the matchmaking and point systems as detailed above or want to play with friends without negatively impacting their main. Thus they create new accounts to circumvent the system.

As Halo Infinite is free to play and Xbox Live no longer requires a paid account to play online multiplayer, anyone can create a new account and begin playing. A player only has to complete 25 non-ranked matches to be able to then play Ranked Arena. Thus, experienced players are creating new accounts, speeding through fast, non-ranked matches, and then purposely performing poorly in their Ranked qualifying matches.

Ranked Arena matches HCS competitive settings, as I noted. This is by design so that players can enjoy the same settings as the pro teams, and pro players (or aspiring pros) can practice/scrim with the maps/equipment used in tournaments. Therefore, map, equipment, and game mode updates have to be thoroughly considered and curated for balance.

Forbidden was added just a few weeks ago, but the last addition prior to that was Solitude in June. Furthermore, the weighting for each map is not equal as some maps support more modes than others. For instance, Forbidden, Argyle, and Empyrean only support Capture the Flag. So even with those additions dating back to 2022, you can go dozens of games without playing one of them simply due to the RNG with map/mode selection.

When you melee, your spartan will typically lunge at an enemy player, hit them, and break their shield. This is a powerful risk vs. reward scenario given that you have to be near another player, and it often leads to exchanges.

Also I have a bug in halo campaign where I have killed a boss, travelled up an elevator, get to a room, and it crashes. I have never even been outside yet, and the game is months old. I was hoping it'd get fixed in the last patch, but it didn't.

In Halo Infinite, you do not simply spot and kill an enemy in a blink of an eye. Instead, you need to have a plan and you need to be able to think on your feet. A one-on-one battle can last 15 seconds, which is an eternity when your auto rifle runs out of ammunition.

The designers can get away with some of that because a halo is inherently an infinitely repeating structure. It makes sense that it would use a lot of copy-and-paste. And yet, as a player, it begins to feel routine.

Even with those concerns, though, I was almost always enjoying exploring the game. Discovering a new installation of the enemy (known as the Banished) is always exciting. And 343 does just enough to make each base feel unique even if they tend to fall into a handful of buckets in terms of what you need to do.

My other issue with Halo Infinite is the equipment. The game has a straightforward character-progression system for Master Chief that involves finding and improving special abilities like a speed dash, the aforementioned grappleshot, a drop shield, and more. All of these things are useful in their own way but switching between them is cumbersome. It requires multiple inputs on the D-pad, which takes a lot of getting used to during combat.

Also, thanks to the open-world nature of the game, you can take a vehicle from one side of the world to the other. So if you want to drive the Ghost you just jacked from an enemy over to a high-value target 5 kilometers away, you can do that.

By the end of the game, when I was looking to finish up some key spots on the map, I finally unlocked a Wasp so I could fly anywhere in the world. At that point, I had also unlocked a massive arsenal of UNSC and Banished weapons through a combination of earning valor and taking out the high-value targets.

But as it stands today, this is a statement release for Xbox Game Studios. In a year when it has released a number of GOTY contenders (Psychonauts 2, Deathloop, Forza Horizon 5, and Age of Empires IV), Halo Infinite stands above even that crowd.
