django editable grid

I'm a dojango noob. Not even a user, just looking.

I have some complex django editable tables that I want to improve with
fixed headings and fixed first columns (so vertical and horizontal
scrolling still shows which row and column you are in).

Dojo DataGrids offer these features. Dojango promises to make using
dojo from django easier.

However, I see from this message -

- that Dojango does not provide dojo editable grids.

Do you have any advice on how to provide editable dojo datagrids in a
Django setting?

I'm interested in 2 angles on this issue:
1. how to do it the simplest way, not using Dojango? (I mean one-off,
not generalized at all.)
2. how to do it using Dojango? (Which might be the same as, are you
thinking of doing it, and if so how, and how can I help?)

My work is all open source so if I get anything up and running that
might be interesting to Dojango, I will report back here.
