The highly anticipated list of prequalified bidders for 2 of Myanmar's nationwide telecommunication licenses came out today, revealing that 12 Operators are still in the race. The prequalified bidders are: Airtel, Axiata, Digicel, France Telecom (Orange), KDDI, Millicom, MTN Consortium, Qatar Telecom (Qtel), Singtel, Telenor, Viettel group and Vodaphone.
The prequalified bidders have until June 3rd to submit a bid in response to the Government's invitation to tender. Earlier press reports indicate that from 91 expressions of interest, 22 companies or consortia have submitted an application to be prequalified. Of those 22, now 12 remain.
