I changed my Facebook password and deactivated the Facebook account. The email that was associated with FB was my Facebook email. I have attempted 30-50 times to reset my FB password bu having a code SMS sent to my cell phone and I have not received any code.

Recently I logged into my Facebook account and then noticed that my caps lock was on. So I tried to log in again with and without capslock on. I got in both times. Then I tried to log in with the first letter of my password in uppercase and the rest in lowercase. Again, I got in. How is this even possible? Does Facebook keep a cookie for the password or something?

I don't think there are any cookies per your question. It is likely that the password hashing and storage is as standard as you would expect. The alternate passwords are probably generated from the password submitted, via the login form, and not stored as alternates on the back end.

Facebook then stores their respective hashes (which are different, of course) so that if a user user types his password (after reset), the hash of the new password is compared to all these stored hashes: Facebook can tell you then if your new password is similar to the previous one or not.

We hash each password using our internal password hashing algorithm and the unique salt for that person. Since Facebook stores passwords securely as hashes, we can't simply compare a password directly to the database. We need to hash it first and compare the hashes.

The technical details are given in brief but Facebook does use hashing with unique salts. The plain text passwords are hashed with undisclosed algorithm(as Facebook has not revealed it) and then prefixed or postfixed with unique salt and compare it. If it matches then the user gets the green light otherwise no. In case, of similar password, may be Facebook use pre-computed and predicted hashed passwords like replace a with @ or i with 1 or replacing alphabet/s with Upper or lower case. It's given here in brief.

Accounts created through FB don't usually have a password. It looks like you added your email though, so I created a temporary one for you and sent you a link to your email on file. Let me know if you have any trouble logging in outside of FB. :)

Don't worry - it's quick and painless! Just click below, and once you're logged in we'll bring you right back here and post your question. We'll remember what you've already typed in so you won't have to do it again.

I'm so confused right now. I created my spotify account via facebook connect. But now I need my username and password in order to connect my spotify account to mint or just to be able to sign into my account without facebook. But I can't! I can't login to my spotify without facebook. WHat do I do?

Hello and welcome to the community!
Have you tried using your facebook credententials as username and password (so, when it asks for a username you type your facebook email username and for password the one you use to log in to facebook)?

When you create an account with facebook it's quite different from creating an account with only Spotify. First case, your info is with Facebook, so you don't need to create a seperate password/username. Second case, your info, registers directly to Spotify. So if you registered with Facebook, logging in will work through facebook connect. Otherwise, you have to create an account with Spotify, with a username/password of your choosing.

So then what am I supposed to do about my account? I need to be able to actually LOGIN into my account without facebook connect. So basically I have to create a new account and manually move ALL my stuff over to the new account? Are you kidding me? That doesn't even make sense!

Scratch all that just open Spotify in your mobile browser and then login and then click on your profile photo right on top right corner and then it opens account overview and there you can see your username. If you want a separate password inform me here by replying.

As @TYiYT mentioned, you can check your username on your account overview page. If you signed up with Facebook, you'll need to create a new Spotify password in order to be able to log in with your username or registered email address. Head here for more info on that.

Websites cannot update Firefox's password manager, but if Firefox observes you using an updated login on a site it may ask if you want to update the saved login. I don't remember if there is a way that could happen automatically, or whether Firefox always asks you.

I've had that drop down box asking if I want to save the new password. That didn't happen. I told facebook to leave me logged in. Then I logged out expecting the drop down box when I entered the new pass word, but the drop down from firefox didn't come. So I went to my security on firefox and the new password was already in my list of saved logins. Facebook made me choose between staying logged in or checking other devices, which I don't have.

No it did not effect how firefox saves except for the fact that facebook was unable to save to firefox on it's own. Now a drop down box shows and asks me if I want to update the password. On the only new site I registered for, the drop box came down to ask me to save as normal as well.

I had a similar problem. I was logged in as [my name], but the password wouldn't work in settings. I logged out of my account, and made a decision on how I whether I wanted to integrate the Facebook information with my contacts, and I was logged out. Then I logged back in and now everything is working again! Although I'm not looking forward to going back through all my contacts and making sure everything is coordinated correctly.

My Facebook is okay on my computer. It is on my iphone after I logged off and tried to log in again it says, "Enter Facebook password " " in settings. I know my Facebook password is correct but not for my iphone?

I had the same issue until I logged in with a different/"the primary" email address linked to my Facebook account. Apparently I have four email addresses associated with my Fb account. The one I tried using unsuccessfully was not my primary email, but worked fine elsewhere (app, browser).

However, I'd feel a lot better if they removed the text that tells you you have tried an old password, and just showed this message every time you entered an invalid password after changing your password recently.

I think that would give you the best of both worlds - it lets you know that your password has been changed recently, and where from, and alerts you to the fact that you MAY be trying to use an old password. It doesn't give away one of your (albeit old) passwords to potential attackers

As Trufa says, the attacker could then take this combination and try other sites. So it's not going to be a security issue on Facebook (unles... how does Facebook handled resetting your password to an old password?), but it could be on other sites.

I don't see what the security risk is, it's not telling you what the old password was, just that it was changed. If the attacker can guess your old password, then it wasn't a good password to begin with.

In fact, a problem for Facebook is exactly that people have weak passwords, and it's not uncommon for a jilted lover or school bullies to "guess" your password, change it so you can no longer log on, and then post lots damaging stuff about you in your own name.

I assume they added this feature in response to that problem - so that you know if you can't log in, and it says "Your password was changed on (some other computer)" that you've probably had your account compromised.

If you click the request link, you get taken to a page where you can enter enough info that it can identify your account (email address or phone number is the simplest), and it will send you a new password. You don't get to set or see the new password from that page, so a hacker would also need to gain access to your email.

Head over to the Settings in the game and Help Center. Choose a topic and you'll find the 'Contact us' in the bottom of the page. Send an email to Player Support from there so they can help you you and manually restore the levels.

@jakeman276 Hi and welcome, If you have changed your password on Facebook, you will need to sign out of the game and log back in with your new Facebook details. You should then find you will find your level progress. If not try playing a level to see if this forces the game to sync and if not follow advice above to get your levels manually restored

Changing the Facebook password will never ruin your game progress, but changing the Facebook password while the game is logged in, may corrupt the game app. In that case you will get an error message when trying to connect to Game Server, so let us know if you have already received an error message.

Note: These requirements only apply when using your email address and Zoom password to sign in to Zoom. If you sign in with Google, Apple, Facebook, or SSO, your password must meet their requirements.

If you receive a message that states "This Zoom account does not exist", you may have set up an account with a Google, Apple, or Facebook login. Try logging in with one of those platforms and reset your password with them if necessary.

I am volunteering my time to create a Facebook Fan page for a non-profit organization. I am signing in with my own account/password. Is there a way I can change the password on this Facebook Fan page once I send it to the client and still keep my personal Facebook password?
Thank you.

Facebook handles all logins via personal accounts which are linked to brand pages. There are no direct tools to login as a brand although many brands use ghost (empty / null) accounts to control access to their pages.
