Hi all!

First things first: I am forming a 501c3, Green Idea Factory, - see
also www.greenidea.eu - and I hope Dogs on Board! will be the first
project. I received the Nolo Press book on forming a non-profit
corporation in California -- we just sent in the first inquiry about
the name to Sacramento. I am collecting a list of relevant
foundations: One advantage is that this is an environment AND dog
thing... and if we make it clear that allowing dogs on transit
encourages exercise then it is also a health thing.

I would appreciate some help from anyone who has experience with this.
My first question is if you agree that I should put off a big launch
of the project until things are pretty concrete, i.e. if we have
funding and so on. The second question is... that I still plan to be
based in Europe. There is something the project needs here, which is
documentation and research on the state of canine socialization (that
dogs are allowed on most transit is but one manifestation...), but I
realize that it could complicate funding.

One of the first things to fund for is at least a part-time position
based in the USA.

My idea is that we use initial funding for finding 5 to 10 public
transport services in the USA which would consider allowing dogs.
Then, once we have this consortium in place we go for substantial
funding. This is how I would do it in Europe.

If we need to organize petitions, lobby politicians and on it would -
I think - require a 501c4...

More on that and related issues later.

For now I would love it if people could join the Google Group... and
any tips for synchronizing it with Facebook...
