Asat the last update, 2014-04-05, there are two download file options. THIS IS FOR e-SWORD FOR WINDOWS. DO NOT TRY TO LOAD THIS ON e-Sword x for Mac, or e-Sword HD for the iPad, or e-Sword LT for the iPhone, or e-Sword for Android. The files were not designed for those versions of e-Sword, and will not be processed by those devices.
Download options [1] Afrikaans.exe 4,2 MB. Select the file after download and let it run. This is an installing wizard to load the file "aov.bblx" modified 2014-04-04 into C:\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword where e-Sword Resources Location files are stored. This is designed for e-Sword for Windows. The TAB name is "AOV Afrikaans Ou Vertaling". The "Bible Information" provides the following information: "Afrikaans Ou Vertaling - 1953 Afrikaans Ou Vertaling (Old Translation). Copyright 1953 Bible Society of South Africa. This copyright Bible has kindly been made available by the Bible Society of South Africa, strictly for non-commercial use with e-Sword. To contribute towards the distribution of affordable Bibles in South Africa click:
Download option [2] Afrikkans.zip 4.11MB This is a zipped folder, containing aov.bblx compressed 17%. Compressed file size 4210 KB. Uncompressed size 5040 KB. Date modified 2014-04-04. This would need to be uncompressed, and then copied to the e-Sword Resource Location folder, C:\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword where it will be loaded by e-Sword when that restarts. The TAB name is "AOV Afrikaans Ou Vertaling". The same information as in option [1].
Only load the version of file, that you want to load. The contents of both options are the same.
HISTORY OF CHANGES IN e-Sword since these modules were made.
July 2016 e-Sword version 11.0 was released. New features included all new HTML-based resources, including a new Lexicon module type. There is a new Pericope feature which places section headings throughout the Bible. Most of the resources have been updated to this new format, so you may want to download the updated versions of these modules, especially the non-English Bibles as they now contain the actual Unicode characters which makes for better search results. The new module format has also introduced a new Lexicon module type.
September 2017 Inside e-Sword an official download option was provided by Rick Meyers, the developer of e-Sword, as at 2017-09-18. On the option "Download", "Bibles", "Afrikaans", "Free" provision was made for the download of the Afrikaans OV, Afrikaans Ou Vertaling, Copyright 1933, 1953 by Bible Society of South Africa. All rights reserved. Used with permission.
I enquired from Rick Meyers, the designer of e-Sword, whether this official Download option is available for all varieties of e-Sword. Rick Meyers reply, 2022-08-17, was: "You can easily go into the Download and see for yourself if the Afrikaans Ou Vertaling is available. The Ou Vertaling is public domain, not copyrighted by any Bible society. All of the apps have the same downloadable resources, except for the maps which are a PC-only resource."
PLEASE DOWNLOAD THE Bible, under Afrikaans, Free, Afrikaans OV, Afrikaans Ou Vertaling, Copyright 1933, 1953 by Bible Society of South Africa. All rights reserved. Used with permission.
This will load on all varieties of e-Sword. Copyright 1953 Bible Society of South Africa. This copyright Bible has kindly been made available by the Bible Society of South Africa, strictly for non-commercial use with e-Sword.
The claim that the text of the 1953 translation of the Holy Bible in Afrikaans is in the public domain is not true in South Africa. The module provided on this link at Bible Support was specifically made available by the Bible Society of South Africa for personal use by members of

Hi,
I have recently (7 days) upgraded to Android after I have seen MySword. I am used to Logos / Libronix and eSword on my PC and pocket eSword on my previous mobile.
My mother tongue is Afrikaans. The Bible in Afrikaans comes out in the old translation (1933/1953) and the new translation (1983?).
I would like to convert one of my bibles to MySword but the docs of the MySword migration pack refers to file extensions I am not familiar with.
If I get the Bible on Word, I believe I have to put the various verses and chapters and books under numbers and names in a certain format.
Where can I get the format?

Hi,
The Migration tools for MySword only supports source module (Bible, Commentary and Dictionary) of TheWord format. You can try also TheWord which is also free and available from
theword.net and can be installed to your Windows PC. TheWord has an importer which can convert e-Sword modules into TheWord format but it only supports e-Sword version 8 modules (you can check by looking at the extension if it is BBL; BBLX means version 9).
After successfully converting the e-Sword Bible to TheWord format, you can then migrate it to MySword.
However, both TheWord Importer and MySword Migration tools only supports unencrypted modules.
Please try first if you can import your e-Sword module/bible to TheWord format.

Hi,
Thanks a lot. It worked.
I downloaded the module without installing everything. The module.exe made a directory C:\Program Data\The Word where I found the afr1953.ont file. I then imported it with your migration tool.
The only problem is that in our language for "say" we say "s".
I see the display as a question mark inside a black upright square. No problem I know what it means.
I will later try to do something else.
BTW: now the Android system as software for a phone is perfect. I have my MySword that is equal to Pocket eSword.
The ability to have MySword or Pocket eSword on your phone, well stocked with bibles and commentories can clear up many misunderstandings or arguments with other people like colleagues, or even if something is not clear to you.
Thanks again.

Hi csabosz,
The migration tools only support unencrypted modules (Bibles, Commentaries and Dictionaries). Maybe that module is encrypted as the encoding issues were only encountered by us in TheWord Bibles as they are text files while the Commentaries and Dictionaries are SQLite databases. Can you specify what TheWord commentary did you migrate?

Hi MySword,
In this page there are TheWord commentaries:
A tried to convert this:
David Guzik's Commentary on the whole Bible
The result was a bad, unreadable modul.
This modul encrypted? This is the problem?

The Notepad++ fix is only needed if the Bible file in TheWord is not in UTF format and there are characters in non-English languages. The Greek/Hebrew files you had mentioned above are already in UTF format.
The Hebrew is not yet fully supported by Android. I have tried WLC and the text is actually displayed from left to right and not right to left. We are waiting for Google to fix this in their future release of Android.
The Greek with accents is not directly supported by the default font of Android but we already had a fix for MySword since version 1.4 but not yet given a user-interface control as we are still testing it and it seems stable though. Currently, this can only be made possible by unzipping a fonts folder into the MySword Modules path in the SD card of your Andoird (normally /sdcard/mysword). If you are interested with this manual installation contact us for the attached fonts file and unzip it.

I am trying to use migration tools, but every time it says, "file does not exist. For example I have "migrationtools" folder renamed to "a", in the root of my system.
In CMD i type: It returns "file kjv.ont does not exist". File placed in the same folder.
Can you tell me what i am doing wrong?

Hi MySword,
Great job on the program. Been using just a couple of days ( RC2) and love it. Was hoping e-sword would do the android thing but never did.
As a result I did my own 'android' bible app last year but never published.
Your's is better. Love the MyJournal feature.
Now to convert my db files to MySword.
My question is what have you documented regarding content format and structure. I see much standard html but also some non-standard text formatting. Can you make this available?
I want to convert my files to your format:.
NIV, NLT, and NASB bibles.
BBC, and LASB cmt.
Several devotionals and a number of topical files which I assume would go best in your 'bok' structure.
I also have several reading plans but not sure where to put them.
I've made my 1st donation to you.
I know this is a lot to ask. But if you can provide any info it would be helpful.
As a developer myself, I'm very much aware of the time/effort it takes to produce an app of
this quality.
By the way I'm a 74 year old android developer with prior experience in c++ and SQL mostly.
An 'Old Geek' still trying to keep up my skills in this retirement phase of life.
Again my thanks for job well done and may our God bless you richly.
