It is not too late to gain an edge in the world of niche pet writing and sign-up for the 2010 Business of Pet Writing Conference. The Business of Pet Writing Conference will take place on Saturday, February 13th, 2010 at the Hotel Pennsylvania, 401 Seventh Avenue, Ballroom. The conference, held the day before the Dog Writers Association of America Annual Awards Ceremony and Banquet, will provide pet writers with the tools, insight, and information to surpass th eir competition and increase their earning potential.

 
The 2010 Business of Pet Writing Conference features a variety of seminars designed to give pet writers inside information, detailed direction and constructive criticism about writing, publishing and selling their work. Topics include "How Libraries Build Their Pet Book Collections", led by Library Journal book review editor, Wilda Williams, "Leveraging Social Media for Profit", led by book marketing and media expert, Penny Sansevieri and "The Basics of Children's Publishing," led by author Harold Underdown. The 2010 Keynote Address, "How Contemporary Pets Explain Modern Society," will be presented by Michael Shaeffer, author of One Nation Under Dog. A veterinary panel will also take place and will be lead by American Veterinary Medical Association's Sharon Granskog.
 
In addition to the expert led seminars, the Pet Writing Conference also provides agent and magazine pa nels composed of animal interest magazine and successful agents discussing the direction magazine and publishing houses are taking, the future of the magazine and publishing industry, development of quality online content and the incorporation of social media tools. Beyond the panel discussions, representatives from Folio Literary Management and Fine Print Literary Agency will also be available for one-on-one sessions. Editors from the AKC publications, Bowtie Press, Kennel Club Books, Redstone Media Group, Dog Fancy, Dogwise Publishing, Dogs in Review, Barron's Publishing and Storey Publishing will also be on hand for personal sessions with pet writers to discuss book and magazine proposals and pitches.   
 
The Business of Pet Writing Conference is sponsored by a variety of distinguished organizations including the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA); Automobile Association of American AAA; the American Pet Produc ts Association (APPA); the Cat Fancier's Association (CFA); Halo, Purely for Pets; the Metropolitan Dog Club and the Pet Food Institute.
 
Registration for the 2010 Business of Pet Writing Conference is $200 and covers the panel discussions, continental breakfast and afternoon coffee. The three-course Networking Lunch is an additional $25.  Same-day registration will be available on-site.
