Expedition into the Abyss. The first banner I spent money on. I had been playing the game for 6 weeks or so and I had not found the r/FFBreveExvius subreddit or the Exvius Wiki, I went into the exploration blind and got wiped out. I leveled my team, I maxed my stats and I just could not win. I got to Ansel finally and beat him, but I was so low on energy. I used lapis refills just to limp past him. Then I got to the exit with the 3 bosses that kicked my but with their 10,000V attack. I was frustrated beyond belief, I had spent all my resources to pass this exploration, and I couldn't leave it like this. I broke my F2P resolve and put down $20. That should be enough to get me out of this dungeon and replace some of the lapis I sepnt so I could at least do the dailies again. I was adamant that I would not spend again.
We welcome images of whale paintings and handmade whale-related items! But please, no promotion of your work for sale. This includes Etsy or other online store links in comments, "find more in my profile", "pm me for details", etc etc. Thanks!
But first thing first, let's clear a HUGE misconception about it.
This is, a Blue Whale NOT a Narwhale.
This is something a lot of people not understand, one of Childe's whale main feature is the horns, which is shared with the narwhales's species, but once you read Childe's constellation, it make sense why it have an horn, "Monoceros" mean "Unicorn" in latin. And, take a look at how it act when summoned, it jumps out of the water THE EXACT SAME ways, a blue whales does. And just it's appearance look like a Blue Whale.
So...Can we agree NOT to call it a Narwhale ? Thank you.
Now that it said, let me first translate Childe's constellation, since it's latin.
"Monoceros", as said earlier, mean "Unicorn", NOT "Narwhale" like fandom say.
"Caeli" mean either "Heaven" or "Sky", so..
"Monoceros Caeli" basically mean "Unicorn of the Sky/Heaven"
"It is said that the shape of one's constellation determines one's character. The image of a whale cruising across the celestial heights represents a solipsism that seeks to crush and devour all in its path.
Embracing this aspect of himself, Childe gleefully summoned one such beast before throwing himself into battle against you."
"The image of a whale cruising across the celestial heights represents a solipsism that seeks to crush and devour all in its path." Would make sense on why Childe relate to it. So basically...This whale seek to destroy everything. Something interesting about it is the "solipsism" part, solipsism mean two thing:
Both of those definition seem to point out that the whale may be selfish, or more, "alone", which remind me of an interesting comment I saw, talking about how the music "Wrath of the Monoceros Caeli" have a reference to the 52-hertz whale, said to be the loneliest whale of the world, I...Can't find the comment, so if anyone know enough about music can confirm, I would like it.
Anyway. Basically this whale is alone, in the primordial sea, but is related to the sky, and is said to devour it (I'm also fairly certain in Chinese, it's called "Sky eating whale"), meaning that this whale, is probably not our friend. Something about it that intrigue me, is that it's goal is extremely similar to Childe, who which to overthrow the world. I wonder, since Childe is pretty much the one who awaken it, and have trace of it, maybe it's goal is living through Childe.
I would also like to point out that the move used by Childe to summon it is "Celestial Voyager", Voyager refert to "a person who makes a long journey to a distant or unknown place especially by ship or boat", meaning that the Whale is probably traveling through the Primordial Sea
I guess this one is for the marine biologists out there. Assuming you got sucked into the mouth of a blue whale in one piece (as it was trying to feed on some small fish lets say), what are the likely scenarios after that? Let's assume you are wearing scuba gear so you have a limited supply of oxygen. How might you get out? Could you simply swim out the next time it opens its mouth? Would the oncoming rush of water always push you back into its belly? What would be your most probable cause of death? Starvation? Running out of oxygen? Some kind of nasty whale stomach acids? This question has been bugging me all week.
Edit: Lots of interesting comments so far - though i'm not sure if there is consensus yet. It seems as though a blue whale's throat is far too small for a human to fit through...so then what would happen? Would you just get washed in and hit the back of its throat (but not go into its stomach)...and attempt to swim out the next time it opens its mouth? Assuming you don't get banged up too bad in its mouth...you could survive this...right?
The Voyage Home never really explains anything about the whale probe's origins. It appears out of nowhere, threatens Earth/Starfleet, and then slinks away after George and Gracie show up. Who - or what - is it? From whence did it come?
I submit that the whale probe is a descendant of George and Gracie from the far future. My explanation for its sudden appearance is that it was aware that Earth had not been good about "saving the whales", and also that its ancestors (namely, George and Gracie) would eventually be brought to Earth by the crew of the Bounty.
To make sure that happened (since if George and Gracie hadn't shown up, it would not exist), the whale probe traveled to the past to punish Earth for its shortsightedness and ensure that George and Gracie made it safely to Earth (a la Back To The Future).
Why is this whale here? Why can you only do 10 damage to it? Why does it teleport you every time you hit it? How is this pink whale by definition not just a complete waste of time? What was Nexon thinking with the design for it? Every time I fight this pink fuck I literally open familiars and have them hit the whale for 15 minutes while I take a shower. It's too insane man.
BTW: If I use the whale I would carry 10 of my fighters on Ceres (Spore and Vitas A) My point of this is to see if the healing of the whale would improve my CVT800 and CD survival and give then an edge over other aircrafts Thanks for your thoughts
That being out of the way, League was one of the few games that actually does (did, when this change happens) a decent job at rewarding its whales, in my opinion. You get to pick a limited (i.e. PAX) skin, and you effectively never have to buy anything ever again aside from event passes, as you can just reroll into every new skin (including Mythics, once the event is over, or once they leave the shop).
Similar to how I didn't purchase the "Ultimate" Samira skin, and am waiting a while for its reroll, I'm not going to shell out a bunch of money just for this Jhin skin, and I implore others, especially other whales, to do the same.
A whale is a Magic player or collector that spends excessive amounts of money on Magic cards and products. Whales spend significantly more money than the median player on Magic. Whales are VIP customers for LGS's and for Magic in general.
Whales vary in how they spend lots of money on Magic. Some spend on sealed products like set boosters and collector boosters. While other whales spend excessive amounts of Secret Lair cards, scarce and highly sought after expensive singles or even on large amounts of digital currency in the Magic Arena game and MTGO. Some whales are fascinated by the secondary market aspect of Magic and "invest" in the "Magic Finance" sphere.
The term whale gets thrown around a lot on Magic Reddit and Twitter (often in the context of a common criticism that "Magic spends too much time and resources catering to whales rather than to the masses" but without a clear basis on what threshold a person becomes a whale. This is something I find interesting and am very curious about.
I am absolutely new. I have no friends to help me out. And I will be playing with the fine people in reddit. I am willing to spend the 30$ for money if it will significantly increase my ability to start to enjoy the game. I.e. that buying them would cut out a good 10+ hours of grinding and/or waiting before I could start doing cool things with people. But remember I am already getting the Criminal Enterprise pack, which is 1 Mil on top of the mediocre cars and the apartments and the club and blah blah blah.
