Each week we'll endeavour to publish some details of the interesting things that members of DoES Liverpool have been up to over the past seven days. You can find out a bit more about them in our introductory post.
And remember, if you're involved with DoES Liverpool at all, let us know what you get up to so we can include it here! The easiest way is to post on Mastodon - if we follow you there, just add #weeknotes to any post you want included. If you’re not on Mastodon but would like to be, chat to one of the organisers and we’ll help you get started. And of course, you can always just send us an email!
Things of Note
  • michael: Work #weeknotes time:
    • Moving to tessera v2 for habitat work, and initial Madagascar results
    • Failing to generate a LIFE map due to slight code rot
    • Liverpool Makefest 2026 (which I was a co-organiser of) was a success!
  • Museum in a Box: We were out at @lpoolmakefest yesterday, a fun-packed day of all manner of #maker activities and demos, held at @DoESLiverpoolWe had 193 boops across the day, the top five objects were:1. @defnetmedia's melting snowman
    2. a 3D-printed heart from @huffeec's 3D-printing school course collection
    3. a 3D print of the British Museum's Hoa Hakananai'a
    4. the Natural History Museum's electron microscopy 3D scan of a blowfly head
    5. a postcard of a carpenter frog
A graph of the boops on our demo Museum in a Box over the past three months. There are regular bumps in the graph and then a huge spike when the box was at Makefest. The text around the graph shows the box has had 1944 boops in total, and the last object booped was the Column Drum from Ephesos, 54 minutes ago
  • matthewcroughan: I may have accidentally booped a #NixOS onto a Jelly Star thanks to all the information available on the #postmarketos wiki. What do you think of that, Clippy?#weeknotes
  • Adrian McEwen: A bit of #FreeCADFriday action this week as the next step in my aerial-as-mounting-pole plans.Designed a little bushing to clip round the top of the antenna so the GoPro clamp I've got will clamp round it successfully. Then 3D printed it in TPU#BikeTooter #weeknotes #3DPrinting
Screen grab from FreeCAD of the bushing. It's like a tiny top hat with a wedge cut out of it
Close up of the 3D printed version clipped round the end of a telescopic aerial
  • Harley McShee: Working on making stamps using the EufyMake yesterday with Jackie. First proper day in DoES!
  • DoESLiverpool: Two out of many repairs at this month's Repair Café: vacuum cleaner attachment unstuck for Sandra, and LCD replaced on a 2008 Fuji F31FD Camera for Karen. Repair Café is on the third Sunday of every month, from 11am - 3pm.
