Wirral MakeFest 2026 – Maker & Volunteer Info Pack

🪑 Tables & Chairs Info
We’ll provide a minimum of 1 table and 2 chairs for all makers:
Table Size (size varies): 183cm (L) x 76.2cm (W) x 76.2cm (H)
Please ask before bringing extra tables so we can leave spaces
📅 Friday 24th April – Setup Day
All Makers & Volunteers: Please sign in and out on arrival.
Lanyards available at check-in and should be worn when in the building.
Volunteers & WMF team: Start setting out tables from 3:00pm using the layout plan.
Makers: Welcome from 3:30–5:00pm to begin setting up.
⚠️ Please don’t leave valuables unattended.
Makers in the Learning Hub may need to wait until 4pm for a session to finish before setting up.
Delivery access via Raffles Road – easier and closer.
🚫 Do not park on Borough Road as this is a busy thoroughfare.
🚗 After unloading, please relocate to Turner Street Car Park (behind Lidl) – just 200m away.
📌 Volunteers – Your Jobs:
Erect indoor signage, assist with makers unloading & finding spaces

📅 Saturday 25th April – Main Event & Final Setup
Library Staff arrive: from 8:30am
Makers & Volunteers arrive: from 8:40am
Unload via Raffles Road entrance
🎯 Event starts at 10:00am – all makers must be fully set up by then.
🚘 After unloading, please move cars to surrounding streets or Turner Street Car Park. Avoid blocking neighbours' access.
🧼 Makers – Please take all rubbish home.
🔌 Power Use Guidelines:
Use surge protectors (we have only 3 spare!)
Cables must be PAT-tested (under 12 months old preferred)
No trailing cables
No taping to wooden floors – use rubber cable guards
📌 Volunteers – Your Jobs:
Set up feather flags & A-boards outside
Check internal signage
Support makers as needed
🕓 Saturday 25th of April – Take Down
(4:00–5:00pm only)
No early pack downs – please speak with a WMF organiser if needed.
Bring all exterior items back inside.
Remove all rubbish and leave no trace behind.
Helpers should prioritise those travelling furthest, as the venue is closed Sunday.
📅 Monday 27th APRIL – Final Clear-Up (usually this is just the WMF team and a few hardy souls)
Sign in and out on arrival
Volunteers will help:
Take down tables
Tidy and clean up
Collect signage and WMF materials
🦠 Covid Safety
Use hand sanitiser where available
Keep windows and doors open in all areas
Monitor CO2 levels hourly
🟢 Green – All good
🟠 Amber – Open more windows/use fans
🔴 Red – Reduce number of people, ventilate fully
👕 Identification & Safety
Makers: Wear your lanyards these will be provided as you sign in
Volunteers: In green/branded T-shirts and lanyards (we have a few left from previous years for new volunteers)
We'll communicate via WhatsApp with volunteers– make sure you're added to the group! For Makers use Alison as your main point of contact 0796 222 9653

🚸 Child & Visitor Safety
No DBS needed – all children should be with a guardian.
Never be alone with a child.
If someone is lost or distressed, contact a WMF organiser or Library staff.

Solo makers: Ask a volunteer for cover when taking a break.
Refreshment Hub: Behind the partition in the main library – please enjoy food & drinks there only (no hot drinks at stands).

Ground floor: accessible, gender-neutral
Upstairs: staff-only and extra public toilet
Extra toilets for volunteers: downstairs near meeting room
Accessible toilet: in the foyer
