After a first two successful visits to the traffic light control room,
and the library of a dead cybernetician, I present...

Epic Trip #3 - Fire! Fire!
We're going to the new fire station (with funky modern equipment) in
Toxteth, on the corner of Windsor Street and Upper Warwick Street.
Claire Tasker, who ran CodePool and works at the station, is
organising at their end.
Tuesday, May 14th, at 4.30pm.
We can expect to see the mobilising equipment, the MDTs (mobile data
terminals) on the engine as well as the fire engines themselves and
the famous fireman's pole!
We will also go on a tour of the FireFit Hub, the station facilities
and the equipment/breathing apparatus rooms. We can also have a look
at some of the operational systems, the training tower and the
infrastructure that supports the station.
Afterwards, to the pub -- Peter Kavanagh's on Edgerton St.
Places will be limited to about 12 people I think. Please email me
individually if you want to come.

Just had confirmation that we are going to get a quick visit from the Incident Management Unit.. basically a van stuffed with gadgets & electronics for when the Fire Brigade needs to go mobile.

This trip was fantastic!
As well as the various tech things - lots going on, quite deep, it was also interesting socially as the station has a youth centre and community sports hall attached to it.
Mark is going to write up a blog post with details!
