Hello
I have small web app running on Tomcat and conversion DOC->PDF based on local converter is working without a problem. I took this running setup and tried it on different PC (Windows Server 2016, MS Office 2010) but conversion stopped working suddenly (Tomcat is not running as a service). If I try to convert document, VBS file is generated, original file is stored near VBS file, MS Word is started but nothing is converted (and MS Word keeps running). There are any error in log file, only this:

[http-nio-8080-exec-4] INFO com.documents4j.conversion.msoffice.MicrosoftWordBridge - From-Microsoft-Word-Converter was started successfully
[http-nio-8080-exec-4] INFO com.documents4j.job.LocalConverter - The documents4j local converter has started successfully
[pool-3-thread-1] INFO com.documents4j.conversion.msoffice.MicrosoftWordBridge - Requested conversion from c:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 8.5\temp\1544547227659-0\ad6d1a88-6c8b-4e13-b29c-7abec1b3d0af\temp1 (application/vnd.com.documents4j.any-msword) to c:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 8.5\temp\1544547227659-0\ad6d1a88-6c8b-4e13-b29c-7abec1b3d0af\temp2 (application/pdf)

What can cause this problem? Why is word not converting the file?

Thanks

Hi Rafael,
of course. Thats why I noted (in brackets) that Tomcat is not running as service :) I know about this problem, thats why I am starting Tomcat through console. Is this my problem (Word is started but doing nothing) similar to mentioned setup with Tomcat running as service?

Got it. The issue was in the document itself combined with older MS Office. The document contains macro which caused headache to older MS Office 2010 (my Office365 was fine). After applying fix for Tomcat running as service (even though it is not a service), warning message from Word appears saying something about VBA and macros so if something similar happens to someone else, check document first :)

And, @Rafael, thanks for support :)
