This is correct. Documents4j does adapt third-party APIs and MS Word does not support conversion from PDF to docx. You can however implement your own adapter if you know an appropriate back end.

Hi, thanks for the great library! I notice that be default application/pdf -> docx, doc conversions are not supported. Is there anyway to enable that? Thanks.

Chances are. Please look into the annotations of the current MS Word adapter. Simply add the source and target format in the annotation and test run.
You can build the project using Maven. Please let me know about the outcone as I am more than happy to publish anew version.
