Hi ya'll...

As I have been in the realm of video editing these past weeks I have
become ultra-aware of the limitations of You Tube re: Video Quality
and Compression.
So I explored a bit and found a site called Vimeo.
Vimeo will allow uploads of up yo 500 MB/ a week.
Which means-you or I and everyone can upload better quality(less
compressed) video there.

RE: UCAM and the future.
Wouldn't it be great to kick You Tube's ass and allow for better
quality video on our site? Especially as we wish for people to produce
'state of art' documentary quality clips.

As an example of You Tube's shitty compression standard-which is truly
Hit Or Miss-because I have had better compression outcomes-but they
use some type of automation which makes uploading a crap shoot.

I will re-upload ( a pain) again today or tomorrow to see if I can get
a better result.
I have consulted wit various forums and followed all advice to the
letter to no avail.
Clearly You Tube has it's limitations-as do I, I must admit.

UCAM must also educate folks-or help them get maximum quality for
their efforts as well- so I and all of us may have much to learn.

anyhow-Go Here... for You Tube (80 MB)

then Go Here for Vimeo (259 MB)... slightly better-but the video lags
and lurches(someone said that sometimes you have to 're-upload'
several times before it is right.Anyone know about that?)

Neither one is fantastic...I will continue to educate myself on
compression tech-but for now I remain unimpressed and a little
frustrated.

Interesting huh? Anyone with the real lowdown-please contact me with
links or advice on this conundrum...thanks!

Peace atcha...
Rich
